🚨 Markdown Meat Win! 🚨
Yesterday I scored a family pack of chicken breasts that was still perfectly in date, with a best-before of today.

💰 Regular price: $42.72
🏷️ Marked down to: $25.63

As soon as I got home, I portioned everything out and vacuum-sealed/packaged it individually. Some packages have 1 breast, some have 2, depending on size.

📦 Total packages: 13
That works out to:
$25.63 ÷ 13 = $1.97 per package/meal
And that's before stretching it into casseroles, stir-fries, wraps, soups, or other leftover-friendly meals.

A few minutes of prep saved me over $17 and stocked the freezer with ready-to-go protein. That's the kind of math I like! 😎

I am SO excited about this week's produce prices!

Between the affordable watermelon and cucumbers, this refreshing Watermelon Cucumber Salad is definitely making an appearance at my house.

One of my favorite things about this salad is how easy it is to customize:

🥦🧀 Broccoli Cheddar Soup – My Go-To Recipe! 🧀🥦

This is the broccoli cheddar soup recipe I use most often, and it's one of those recipes that's super easy to customize based on what you have on hand.

The only swap I regularly make is the broth — vegetable, chicken, whatever I have in the pantry works just fine!

As for the seasonings, I always adjust them to taste:
Less garlic, more garlic...totally up to you. Extra pepper if you like a little more kick.
Season as you go and make it your own.

One of my favorite additions has been dehydrated peppers. They add a nice little kick and an extra layer of flavor without overpowering the soup. Highly recommend giving it a try!

This is the perfect cozy meal for chilly days, rainy evenings, or anytime you're craving a warm bowl of comfort. ❤️

🥦 Broccoli Salad – Easy to Customize & Always a Crowd Pleaser! 🥦

This is the basic broccoli salad recipe I use, but honestly, it's one of those recipes that's super easy to make your own!
✨ Try these tasty swaps and additions:
• Raisins instead of dried cranberries
• Grilled corn for a sweet summer flavour
• Apple chunks for a fresh, crunchy twist

Looking for a lighter, "clean eating" dressing?

Here's my go-to version:
Greek Yogurt Dressing
• 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
• 1–2 tbsp honey (I used local honey 🍯)
• 1–2 tbsp Dijon mustard
• 1–2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
• Sweet onion, finely diced (optional, to taste)
Whisk everything together until smooth and toss with your salad.

One of the best things about broccoli salad is that there really isn't a wrong way to make it. Use what you have on hand, adjust the sweetness to your liking, and make it your own!

🛍️ Local Friends – Discount Store Adventure! 🛍️

Today I took a little trip around some of the local discount shops to see what kind of deals could be found. Here's my honest rundown:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This and That (Bayside)
What a gem! This place is packed with great bargains. If you haven't stopped in yet, it's definitely worth a visit.

⭐️ Costcave
Unfortunately, this one didn't impress me. Most of the reviews I've seen mention the pricing, and I have to agree. We found a couple of decent deals, but overall nothing really jumped out as a bargain.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pop-Up Store (Old Rona Building – Sidney & Bell)
If you're out and about over the next week or so, check out the pop-up store in the old Rona building. There were some genuinely great deals to be found if you know your prices. The lines were long when we visited, but they had plenty of staff working and things moved surprisingly quickly.
