Hockey practices, celebrating 22 years together, getting things done around the house, a fire with friends, closing up the pool, and a lovely visit from friends and their sweet little boys making their way home.โฃ

Twenty-two years of memories, laughter, life, and growing together. And if thereโ€™s one thing Iโ€™ve learned, itโ€™s that love isnโ€™t just about the beautiful, easy seasons. Itโ€™s about who stands beside you when life gets hard.โฃ
โฃ
For the past 6 years, my husband has supported our family in ways I could never fully put into words. When my back injury, surgery, and complications with healing and nerve damage changed so much of my life, he carried more than his share. He supported us financially, but just as importantly, he kept me going emotionally when I needed it most.โฃ
โฃ
There have been hard days, uncertain days, and days when I didnโ€™t know what the future would look like. But I knew I wasnโ€™t facing it alone. ๐Ÿฅฐโฃ
And I donโ€™t think we talk enough about that kind of love. The kind that doesnโ€™t disappear when life gets messy. The kind that shows up when things arenโ€™t easy. The kind that keeps choosing you, even when the season youโ€™re in isnโ€™t the one you imagined.โฃ

Itโ€™s a long weekend here in Canada, with Thanksgiving this weekend, Iโ€™ve been thinking about gratitude.โฃ
โฃ
Not just being grateful when everything goes right.โฃ But learning to appreciate what we have, the people we love, the little moments we sometimes overlook, and the life weโ€™re living right now.โฃ
โฃ
Itโ€™s so easy to focus on whatโ€™s missing, what we wish were different, or what we thought life would look like.โฃ
But what if we paused long enough to notice how much there already is to be thankful for? โค๏ธโฃ
A warm cup of coffee. A quiet morning. Another day with the people we love. The chance to laugh, learn, grow, and make more memories.โฃ

These 5:15am wake-ups have officially become second nature. ๐Ÿ˜‚โฃ
Iโ€™m actually waking up BEFORE my alarm nowโ€ฆ Which honestly feels a little ridiculous. LOL.โฃ
But it got me thinking this morning about something completely different:โฃ
๐—˜๐˜…๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€.โฃ
I think sometimes we create so much of our own disappointment by expecting people to be a certain way.โฃ
We expect them to respond the way we would. To care about the things we care about. To communicate the way we communicate. To show up the way we would show up for them.
We get frustrated. We feel hurt. We wonder how they could possibly think or act that way.โฃ
โฃ
But maybe sometimes the hardest part is accepting that people are allowed to be different from who we expected them to be.โฃ
And that doesnโ€™t necessarily make them bad people. It just makes them, ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ.โฃ
We can love someone without expecting them to think like us. Care about someone without expecting them to show it exactly the way we would. And accept someone for who they are without constantly wishing they would become who we need them to be.โฃ
โฃ
Because sometimes the disappointment isnโ€™t really about what someone didโ€ฆโฃ
Itโ€™s about the story we created in our head about who we thought they were supposed to be.โฃ
And Iโ€™m learning that letting go of those expectations can bring a whole lot of peace.โฃ
Not because we stop having standards.โฃ
Not because we allow people to treat us poorly.โฃ
But because we stop trying to control who other people are.โฃ
We can choose our boundaries.โฃ
We can choose how we respond.โฃ
We can choose who gets access to us.โฃ
And we can let people be who they are.โฃ
โฃ
Maybe acceptance isnโ€™t saying, โ€œI like everything about this.โ€โฃ
Maybe itโ€™s simply saying, โ€œI see you for who you are, and Iโ€™m going to stop fighting reality.โ€โฃ
And honestly? Thereโ€™s a lot of freedom in that.โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Iโ€™ve been thinking about how often we treat rest like something we have to ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ป. โฃ
We push through.โฃ
We finish one more thing.โฃ
We take care of everyone else. โฃ
And tell ourselves weโ€™ll slow down later. โฃ
But what if we stopped waiting until we were completely exhausted?โฃ
What if rest was simply part of taking care of ourselves? โฃ

10/06/2026

And today, I want to turn the page slightly:โฃ
You donโ€™t need someone elseโ€™s approval to believe that what youโ€™re doing is worthy.โฃ
If someone doesnโ€™t understand your choices, that doesnโ€™t automatically mean youโ€™ve made the wrong one.โฃ
If someone is unhappy with the direction youโ€™re taking, that doesnโ€™t mean you need to change direction.โฃ
And you certainly donโ€™t need to spend your life correcting how other people interpret you.โฃ
โฃ
Because hereโ€™s the thingโ€ฆโฃ
People are going to have opinions about your life no matter what you do. So you might as well build a life ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ actually want to live.โฃ
Make the choice that feels right for ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ.โฃ
Take the path that makes sense to ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ.โฃ
Create the life that feels like ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ด.โฃ
Not because everyone understands it.โฃ
Not because everyone approves.โฃ
Not because everyone thinks youโ€™re making the โ€œrightโ€ choice.โฃ
But because you get one life.โฃ
And you deserve to live it as yourselfโ€ฆnot as the version of you that keeps everyone else comfortable. โค๏ธ โ˜•๏ธโฃ
Maybe thatโ€™s the permission someone needs this morning:โฃ
You donโ€™t need everyone to understand your life for you to live it.โฃ
Do it for you. You deserve that. ๐Ÿ’™

A little Monday morning thoughtโ€ฆโฃ
Sometimes people will deny your experience.โฃ
They may remember something differently.โฃ
They may not understand why something affected you.โฃ
They may see a situation completely differently than you do.โฃ
โฃ
And Iโ€™ve learnedโ€ฆโฃ I donโ€™t have to prove my reality to someone else for it to be real.โฃ
People deny experiences for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes they genuinely see things differently. Sometimes accepting what happened is uncomfortable. Sometimes people simply arenโ€™t capable of seeing something from your perspective.โฃ
But I donโ€™t have to spend my energy convincing them.โฃ
โฃ
I can simply say to myself:โฃ
โ€œI am at peace even when people donโ€™t agree with me. I choose to accept what is.โ€โฃ
And then I can move forward.โฃ
I can focus on my actions, my choices, my healing and my growth.โฃ
Because the more energy I spend trying to convince someone else to understand meโ€ฆโฃ
the less energy I have to actually live my life.โฃ
โฃ
So, Iโ€™m choosing peace over proving.โฃ
I know what I have experienced. I know what I feel. And I donโ€™t need everyone to agree with me to move forward. โค๏ธโ˜•๏ธ

โฃ
Every year, I look at the trees and think about this change.โฃ
The leaves let go. They donโ€™t fight it.โฃ
They donโ€™t try to stay green forever.โฃ
They simply change with the seasonโ€ฆโฃ
and somehow become even more beautiful.โฃ
Maybe thereโ€™s a little lesson in that for us too.โฃ
Change isnโ€™t always something to fear. Sometimes itโ€™s how we grow.โฃ
Sometimes itโ€™s how we become more ourselves. Sometimes what weโ€™re letting go of is making room for something better.โฃ
โฃ
And maybe we donโ€™t have to know exactly what the next season is going to look like to trust that thereโ€™s beauty waiting for us there.โฃ
โฃ
So hereโ€™s to October. ๐ŸŽƒโ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿ‚โฃ
Hereโ€™s to changing.โฃ
Hereโ€™s to growing.โฃ
Hereโ€™s to letting go of what weโ€™ve outgrownโ€ฆand making room for whatโ€™s next.โฃ
Because maybe change isnโ€™t the end of something beautiful.โฃ
Maybe itโ€™s how something beautiful begins. โค๏ธ
