From the book Memories of Wentworth -
It was officially known as the Wentworth County Courthouse, but in the years long before regional government and then amalgamation, this building provided an important link between the county and the City of Hamilton as the county seat.
One of four courthouses built in Hamilton, this one pictured in the years before the UEL Monument was erected in 1929, was most impressive, offering a state of elegance along this section of Main Street between John and Catharine streets.
Major renovations were done in the 1930s, but by the 1950s, it was again overcrowded, and so, in 1956, the building was demolished.
