TRAFFIC IS DIVIDED… AND SO ARE OPINIONS.
A significant development is unfolding on Eakin Settlement Road this afternoon, leaving at least one local resident questioning her eyesight, her memory, and reality itself.
The incident began when a local resident, who has asked to remain anonymous, opened her blinds and was confronted with an unexpected and highly reflective sight.
Yellow.
Not autumn yellow.
Not school-bus yellow.
Not caution-sign yellow.
Road-line yellow.
Two freshly painted lines now appear to run directly down the centre of Eakin Settlement Road.
Upon initial visual contact, the resident experienced what she described as a “literal jump scare,” as the sudden burst of yellow appeared to strike her unsuspecting eyes with enough force to burn her retinas.
Once her vision recovered, confusion quickly set in.
Had the lines always been there?
Had she somehow failed to notice them?
What do they mean?
With more questions than answers, The Takysie Dispatch was called to the scene.
Multiple visual inspections were conducted to rule out any possibility of optical illusion, unusual lighting, or a mass visual hallucination.
All inspections produced the same result.
The lines are, in fact, yellow.
And they are, in fact, there.
At this time, investigators have been unable to confirm when the lines were installed, who authorized the installation, or whether local residents were emotionally prepared for such a significant development.
How these changes will impact Southside traffic patterns or the flight patterns of migratory birds has also yet to be seen.
Until more is known, residents are encouraged to keep a safe distance from all freshly painted pavement and use eye protection when approaching affected areas.
