❗️ Please note: performance is based on multiple factors and could improve over time with updates to BIOS, drivers, and software optimization. Using the Turbofan mode with headphones could give you some performance boost with the cost of battery life and create more noise. Adjusting the following will likely give you even smoother frame rates:
- lowering graphical fidelity in general
- lowering resolution
- choosing "performance" in upscaling methods such as Nvidia DLSS or AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution
- using the external ROG XG Mobile RTX 3080 Laptop GPU (or similar) with an external monitor
- running Windows 10 (?)
❗️ This video is merely an example of what the device can do with specific in-game settings with the latest Nvidia driver and Windows 11 updates.
The unit did get quite hot during gameplay. I would not feel comfortable holding the Flow Z13 in my hands for long periods of time. Due to the temperature and weight, it's probably intended to be placed on a table (or similar flat surface) when playing. I find a controller to be the ideal companion for this type of device. In my opinion, the screen is simply too small for keyboard and mouse gaming - unless you're using the XG Mobile with an external monitor. It is indeed a versatile device with many ways of using it and it can adapt to various situations.
Personally, I would probably still choose a 15" or 17" gaming laptop with a more powerful GPU over this. For certain types of specific scenarios, Flow Z13 could be ideal. Overall, I was happy to see it can most games quite smoothly. Except for Cyberpunk 2077. That game seemed to have stuttering issues. ROG is currently looking into it and it will probably get fixed with an update.
