It’s a rainy Sunday in Calgary, and I realized recently that it has probably been a while since I properly introduced myself here — especially with so many new faces finding their way into this little corner of the internet.
So perhaps this feels like a good day to say hello… or hello again.
I’m Amie.
I’m the woman behind Shamie’s Suitcase, founder of The Witch’s Hearth and the Alberta Witches Association, though truthfully, most days I’m just someone sitting with coffee, too much paperwork, bones on the table, and a notebook full of thoughts I’m still trying to understand.
I’m an eclectic witch, and much of my work lives at the crossroads of shadow work, devotion, community, storytelling, and healing. I work with traditional playing cards and osteomancy (bone throwing), hold workshops and circles, teach, mentor, and spend a lot of time helping people navigate seasons of becoming.
But I think what matters more than what I do is probably how I try to do it.
I believe magic should feel lived in.
I believe spirituality belongs at kitchen tables just as much as altars.
I believe healing is rarely linear.
I believe community matters deeply.
And I believe there is something sacred in becoming more honest with ourselves as we grow older.
These days, my practice looks a little different than it once did. There is more rest. More reflection. More time in the garden on my balcony. More listening. More devotion. More learning how to live inside my body with kindness.
There’s usually coffee nearby. Shawn is often somewhere in the background. Hekate has remained a steady companion through many seasons of change. And if I’m honest, I still believe some of the best conversations happen over candles, soup, and truth-telling.
However you found your way here — through witchcraft, shadow work, community, healing, ritual, curiosity, or perhaps complete accident — I’m genuinely glad you did.
I’d love to know what brought you here, or what kind of magic has been quietly calling to you lately.
