that’s an “after the long weekend” problem✌🏼💼

one thing about me: by 2pm on a Friday before a long weekend, I might be physically present in my chair but likely mentally starting the weekend because only my coffee is keeping me locked in (and plot twist: i might need to switch to a stronger Alani Nu energy drink because coffee isn’t working, tbh🤭)

like, the audacity to want to open my inbox after 1pm today? at an all-time low. replying to new emails? nope, i’m good. Teams messages? muted. anything requiring more than one brain cell? absolutely Monday’s problem (actually, make that Tuesday😂)

so if you also spent the last hours of your workday convinced you were being productive while actually just refreshing the clock… hi, I see you🙋🏻‍♀️ (and it’s almost home time!)

say it with me: that’s a problem for future me and future me doesn’t work til until tuesday. so in the words of usher… peace out, a-town✌🏼

SAVE this for the next long weekend Friday when you need permission to check out early + SEND to a coworker who’s already closed their laptop💻

integrating AI ≠ never using your own brain again😭💼

one thing about me: there’s a complete difference between using AI as a tool vs. using it as a replacement for your brain power (and I will die on this hill because wayyyyy too many execs don’t get the difference, like whaaat?!😭)

truly so many corporate problems wouldn’t exist if people stopped outsourcing basic decision-making to Copilot and started using common sense again. yes, AI can draft the email, but it can’t read the room, catch the subtext, or know when NOT to hit send… that’s still on you, k?✨

and don’t even get me started on how many meetings we have about “integrating AI” while nobody’s addressing the actual problem: you still need to know your own job before AI can help you do it.

so if you’re tired of watching common sense get replaced with yet another meeting on “how to use AI”… hi, I’m Naomi, your corporate bestie who gets it🙋🏻‍♀️

SAVE this for the next time someone tries to AI their way out of thinking + SEND to the coworker who gets it😭

me to the office:🚶🏻‍♀️ vs. sprinting for a PSL: 🏃🏻‍♀️💨☕️🍂

one thing about me: i will ALWAYS be grabbing a pumpkin spice latte the very instant it comes out at Starbucks Canada (and that’s a promise!☕️🍂✌🏼)

your workday might be full of meetings that could’ve been emails, inboxes that magically refill themselves… but one thing that won’t change? the first sip of a PSL☺️🍂

so if i can put on a cute almost-fall outfit and make my commute a lil more enjoyable… i don’t care if that’s “basic”, i’m doing it✌🏼

and if you’re also headed to the office with a PSL in hand… hi, i’m your new corporate bestie🙋🏻‍♀️💼☕️ (who will be celebrating the PSL returning every August while blasting some Taylor Swift🤭🍂)

SEND this to your work bestie who needs a pumpkin spice latte + SAVE this for your next reminder to romanticize your workday✌🏼

happy PSL season, corporate girlies. we made it!🫡☕️🍂

the 9 to 5 corporate burnout can be draininggggg😩💼 so here are 5 ways I try to avoid burnout at work:

1. physically leaving my desk for lunch🥗
nothing is better than going for a walk and meeting your bestie. it helps you get a fresh perspective and prevents you from sitting at your desk like a 🦐 (i’m guilty of that, too!)

2. moving non-urgent tasks to tomorrow📝
if it’s not urgent, it can wait. literally take it off your plate and you’ll probably feel a whole lot better. future you can deal with it tomorrow🤭

3. grabbing a sweet treat☕️🍦✨
i’ll literally never not advocate for this! bring your fave coffee from home, pick up an iced matcha, or enjoy something you love that you can look forward during the day✌🏼

4. fun hobbies/interests/plans after work💖
whether it’s going to pilates, going on a date night, or grabbing drinks with the girls, reading a book… you’ll never regret carving out time for yourself and the people you love🫶🏼

5. leave work + take PTO
you’re literally paid to take time off! my fave way to do this is stacking a stat holiday with a few days off so you take 1–2 days of vacay off but basically get a 5 day weekend😊

AND you can fight me on this in the comments, but if you’re truly burnt out… taking 2 weeks off is only gonna make it THAT much harder for you to return😅 soooo unless you’re travelling to Europe or farther away, I don’t think it’s worth it.

that said, I will ALWAYS try to set up my week with lil sweet treats, people and things to look forward to🙌🏼 i’m a BIG FAN of romanticizing the lil things, protecting my evenings, making plans i actually look forward to and USING. THAT. PTO.

if you’re also trying to do the same… hi, i’m your new corporate bestie🙋🏻‍♀️ (i’m so glad you’re here!🙌🏼) and you’ve got this!

SEND this to your work bestie who’s on the brink of burnout + SAVE this for when you need a reminder to take a moment for yourself✌🏼

in case no one told you… you don’t get paid extra to panic🤫

one thing about me: i’m happy to do my job, but i’m not letting my job ruin my sleep, my mood or my entire evening… over an email that will still be there tomorrow (or probably Monday, really).

and if you’ve ever heard the phrase “going above and beyond”… let me be the first to tell you that if you do that consistently enough? you won’t get a gold star⭐️… you’ll be getting a ton more work as your reward.

being a good employee doesn’t mean being stressed and burnt out 24/7. what’s “kinda chic” is working smarter (not harder) and taking breaks when you need them to reset and refresh (because you are a person, not a machine✌🏼)

so if you’re also trying to get better at not stressing out and remembering that your job is funding your dream life… hi, i’m your new corporate bestie👩🏻‍💼 (and i’m so glad you’re here!🫶🏼)

SEND this to your work bestie who needs the reminder + SAVE this for the next time you need permission to stop stressing and finish your Diet Coke 🤭

poor planning on your part ≠ an emergency on mine😭💼

one thing about me: i’m happy to help, but if you wait until the last minute (literally😭) to reach out to me when you’ve known about the project for weeks, i’m also going to be protecting my peace, setting my boundaries and leaving on time.

yes, there’s totally a time and place for working overtime… but if every single day is an overtime request? well, if no one’s told you yet… being a good employee doesn’t mean being available 24/7 and some things can, in fact, be done tomorrow. you can care about your work AND have a life outside of it… two things can be true💅🏼

so if you’re also trying to get better at shutting your laptop, protecting your peace and actually enjoying the life you love outside of work… hi, i’m your new corporate bestie🙋🏻‍♀️ (and i’m so glad you’re here!🙌🏼)

SEND this to your work bestie who needs the reminder + SAVE this for when you need permission to protect your peace… you deserve it✌🏼

99 emails & praying a meeting ain’t one🙏🏼

the fresh mountain air lasted 72 hours … and my inbox sadly didn’t get the memo😭 anyone else have 4 “quick calls,” 3 reply-all emails that no one needed to be cc’ed on, and someone asking if I saw their email from friday at 4:47pm (like it hasn’t even been 24 hours and it’s not urgent, Linda🥲)

like… how does the long weekend slip away like a moment in time?🥲one minute you’re mountain-side breathing in fresh air with zero notifications….and next minute you’re back staring at a full calendar with stale office air, time sure flies😂

brb, gotta get back to be living for the hope of it all (aka the weekend)

tag your work bestie who’s also mourning their long weekend👇🏼

corporate girlies… 5 things WORTH the money, IYKYK🫶🏼(aka the ones I recommend wholeheartedly as a girl surviving the 9-5 life💼👩🏻‍💻)

1. any Aritzia blazer, dress pant or dress … literally 10 of everything pls💅🏼 because nothing says “9-5 corporate girlie” like a good blazer and the effortless pants

2. a Stanley 1913 water bottle💦 because hydration > meetings

3. apple (noise cancelling ones🎶) so you can tune out everyone on your commute + your coworkers (just kidding, one AirPod in girls unite!)

4. lunch at Sunterra Market 🥗 I will always choose a tasty lunch over a sad desk salad in the office… ALWAYS.

5. a cute tote bag💼 (gotta have a place to cram your laptop, snacks, and all of your must-haves, this one’s from Indigo!)

what would YOU add to the list? tell me below👇🏼
