They say “selling is about relationships,” but Walmart isn’t best friends with you before you shop, are they?

Or they preach “value first,” then flake on the very results they promised.

Let’s burn those fake rules: relationships matter, yes—but only if you actually deliver.

Customers want to hire people and companies that deliver on their promise.

We’ve been taught that letting go means something—or someone—was bad.

That if you leave a job, it’s because it was toxic.
If you end a relationship, it’s because it broke.
If you change direction, it’s because you failed.

But here’s what no one tells you:

Most times you let go not because it is bad……but because you’re ready for more.

And that’s what makes it hard.

Because it doesn’t feel like an emergency.

It’s just a quiet, persistent nudge.

A knowing. A gut-level truth that you can’t ignore anymore.

But you still do—for a while.

You stay. You try to be grateful. You make it work.

You tell yourself things like:

• It’s not that bad.
• At least I have a job.
• Other people would kill for this opportunity.
• It’s just not the right time.

Meanwhile, you’re the one everyone turns to when there’s a crisis.
The fixer. The glue. The go-to.

You’ve sat in meetings where someone else got credit for your idea.
You’ve trained the person who got promoted over you.

You’ve held your tongue because being seen as “difficult” could cost you everything.

And when it comes to asking for more? Forget it.

I know that woman. Because I was her.

But here’s the catch: change isn’t hard because of lack of skill, motivation, or even opportunity.

The real roadblock is your brain—and its addiction to what feels familiar.

And that’s what makes it hard.

I know this truth firsthand.

From the outside, it looked like I had it all. I had climbed from earning $1.35 an hour in the stockroom to a multi six-figure C-suite position.

A corporate success story.

But here’s what no one saw:

Despite the title… Despite the wins… Despite the boardroom seat…
I still didn’t believe I was worthy of more.

Then one day—just before a performance review—I was on the phone with my son. I told him what I planned to ask for, playing it safe, staying small, making sure it didn’t sound like “too much.”

And he said one sentence I’ll never forget:

“Mom, it’s not that they don’t value you it’s that you don’t value yourself”

That hit me in the gut.

Because it was true.

I had spent decades trying to prove myself… and somehow, I still felt like I had to justify asking for more.

So, I changed my plan. I walked into that room. And I asked for exactly what I wanted.

Not with fear. Not with fluff. With facts. With power. With clarity.
And you know what?

They gave me more than I asked for.

Because when you finally believe in your own worth, people feel it. The world responds.

But here’s the kicker: it was never about the raise. It was about the release.

That moment wasn’t just a career shift. It was the beginning of letting go of the woman I had been— the one who overworked, overproved, and still questioned her value.

That raise didn’t change me.

Believing I deserved it did.

My son likes to joke that you know what she did next? She quit her job…..this was the beginning of my first powerful coaching offer the Worthy Wealthy Woman.

But that didn’t mean the fear disappeared. In fact, it got louder.
Because here’s what your brain does the minute you decide to change:

It floods you with doubt.

• “What if you mess this up?”
• “What if people think you’re full of yourself?”
• “Who do you think you are to want more?”

That’s not weakness. That’s your brain on change.

Your brain sees the unfamiliar as unsafe—even if it’s better. Even if it’s exactly what you need.

Why you’ll start the business… but stay terrified of selling.

This year has been all about letting go…. not because it was bad
but because it was so good it has led me to the final stage of the dream I had when I left my career almost 10 years ago.

Because this year has been about stepping fully into the next stage of my vision:

Coaching at scale with global impact.

Just like I let go of the fear that closing my studio four days before our first event—due to the pandemic—meant failure.

Just like I let go of the belief that I needed to be perfectly ready before I got on a plane to Africa with my son and daughter-in-law, armed with nothing but faith and a belief in myself—and in the impact I knew would come from what I teach.

I’m letting go because I know that to step into the version of the woman who will transform workplaces across the globe by helping others rise, just like I did I have to let go of the Tammy who’s here now.

Not because there’s anything wrong with her—there’s not.

But just like the butterfly must leave the cocoon, she is ready to break free. To rise. To become the version of herself who can take it to the next level.

I want to close with this…

I spent most of my life avoiding risk. Until, at 36, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer.

When I asked the doctor, “Am I going to die?” He said, “I don’t know.”

And in that moment, I was overwhelmed by regret—not for the mistakes I thought I’d made, but for the chances I never took.
For the dreams I would never get to fulfill… All because I didn’t believe I was good enough.

I made a vow that day: If I lived, I would reach the end of my life without regret.

Because life really is the blink of an eye. And we must fight the urge to let our brain design our life— When our destiny is calling for us to become the operator of our future.

This isn’t about fixing what’s broken. It’s about letting go—so you can finally claim the life you came here to live.
