Hardcover jackets..

to keep or not to keep?

How do you feel about the dust jackets on books?

Do you keep them nice? Do you buy new special edition ones?

I was blown away today. I was today days old when I learned that it costs more to buy these special edition jackets than it does to by the books.. that come with the original jackets.

$300 usd for 8 jacket covers?

Do you know how many books I could buy with that? Book outlet sells books for around $10 so that’s like 30 books.

My brain blew up.

I am backkkkkk I have been creating a podcast studio and reading books! That's why I was gone for a month but I have changed the name, changed the format and upping the entertainment.

gilmore will be a weekly endeavour. I will read one of her books or jess' from the Gilmore girls and tell you all about it. It's already a blast!

This episode includes some updated things I will be doing and episodes will be twice a week with some micro episodes inbetween!

📚📚QOTD If you were to be banned from your local library, what would be the reason?📚📚

I just finished A Lady's Guide to London - Faye Delacour and here are my musings.

Della is a force of nature. She wants to prove she is more than just an heiress who can spend her parents money. Taking on a bigger role in the ladies gambling club, she has this idea to add the club to a local guidebook of attractions.

Viscount Lyman doesn’t want her club in his tour book as gambling ruined his life but the money would help pay off his debts. The closer they get the more they have to fight their feelings to protect their reputations but what’s more important than love?

I have to say.. this enemies to lovers grumpy/sunshine was just what the doctors ordered.

Della is tenacious. I love that. Won’t take no for an answer and is a force to be reckoned with. One of my biggest problems is I didn’t love her as much in this installment as I did in the first book.

The book was really deep this time. Lots of struggles and it wasn’t as light hearted as the first book in my opinion. I like Lyman though which was much better for me. The world building was just as great and I loved the time period.

Again, the ending.. What is up with the speedy endings? I hate rushed endings. That’s a major flaw for me. I also didn’t think the chemistry was as powerful between Lyman and Della but there was a lot more going on and the substance of the book was definitely better. The pacing was better but I think I like book 1 just slightly better.

Still I’m intrigued to see where it will go next.

QOTD Finish the spell with predictive text… I call upon an ancient ______

I just finished The Night Birds by Christopher Golden and here are my musings…

Ruby never expected her night to include a dead sister, a nephew she didn’t know she had, a frightened woman who claims to be a witch running from an ancient evil.. She definitely didn’t expect the one place she would run to would be to the man who broke her heart… But evil is lurking and they want the baby and they will stop at nothing to get him…

OK if you don’t know Christopher Golden… Are you really a horror reader? It is a horror thriller, I know it seems to be labeled as a thriller but it has some excellent horror tones to it and I said what I said.

First off the setting is dark dark dark!!! It was so ominous I loved it. Charlie took Ruby and her charges to a secret location.. A half sunk freighter… Genius right? Trouble is they are running from a cult with dark magic and it freaked me the heck OUT!

The witches need the baby to sacrifice him and the mother (Ruby’s sister) and the girlfriend are doing everything they can to protect him. It was a ride and a half. It was fast paced, it was mildly terrifying and I couldn’t put it down.

Now It isn’t character driven which I know can be an issue for some readers but it didn’t detract from the story because all the magic is in the ambience… It’s all in the details.. Imagine if a book was a dark misty moor… This would be it. It has all the elements you need for a really great horror thriller that keeps the story moving.

The ending was the bee's knees…. I highly recommend this book!
