Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s Shaheedi Diwas

The First Martyr of the Sikh Faith

Today, we bow our heads in remembrance of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the 5th Sikh Guru and the first martyr in Sikh history, who embraced torture with divine calmness and unshakable faith in Waheguru.

He was made to sit on a red-hot iron plate, burning sand was poured over him... yet not a single word of anger escaped his lips.
Instead, he said:

“ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗੈ।”
"O Lord, sweet is Thy Will."

Guru Sahib taught us how to remain peaceful even in the face of cruelty, and how to live and die with dignity, love, and truth.

Let us honor his legacy by living a life of compassion, courage, and service.
