The Ministry of Youth and Sports has taken a bold and decisive stance in defense of discipline and sportsmanship.

Following the shameful incident at the SKD Stadium during the just-ended county kickball match between Lofa County and Grand Cape Mount, where referees were physically assaulted, the Ministry has handed down heavy sanctions.

As a result of this gross misconduct:
•Lofa County’s Kickball Team has been banned for three (3) years from all sanctioned competitions.
•The technical arm and officials involved have been banned for five (5) years from any participation in organized sports activities. And also fine 5,000 United States Dollars

This action sends a clear and powerful message: violence has no place in sports. Referees are the custodians of the game and must be protected at all times. No frustration, provocation, or competitive pressure can ever justify assault.

The Ministry’s decision reinforces its commitment to upholding the integrity of sports, ensuring safety at sporting venues, and preserving the true spirit of fair play. Discipline must prevail, and accountability must be enforced, no matter the county, no matter the team.

Sports is about passion, unity, and respect, not violence.
