Just before the storm

Sitting on the River in late evening sun. I lost track of time and hadn’t noticed the clouds building up.
The last photo was taken near 10 st pedestrian bridge. When I saw the time while taking the photo I quickly packed up and headed home. Twenty, 20, minutes to get home, if I walk fast. Definitely hard to walk fast when my old dog doesn’t walk as fast as he once did. Checking the clouds I see the beautiful sun getting more and more colour. No time to take any more photos…I wish I could have taken more since the sun illuminated the clouds in brilliant orange before the storm clouds blocked the sun totally. Purplish green clouds filled the sky had me walking as fast as possible.

Two families of Goldeneye Duck(lets).
The Mom came closer w her babies when I hadn’t moved for a while. She was on the other side of the river when I first arrived and she swam to the edge of the river. When I hadn’t moved she alllwed the youngsters to continue to swim in the middle of the river. When a ducklet came in really close she swam fast to ensure she was near the ducklet photographed here. Well. One of them. The second family of Goldeneye Duck(lets) swam up the river as close as the other family did. The Mom was more present with her babies than the other. The second family is a little younger than the first family shown here, as noted by the down on the body. I wonder if the duck itch when feathers grow in and down is shed ?!

I really enjoyed watching these ducks on the river. All the ducks. I’m so blessed to be able to stay out watching and photographing these ducks for 90+ minutes. It was a warmer day and we were in full sun; I’d stayed out longer if there was more shade for my dog to cool down in. The water had too much algae for him to drink and I hadn’t brought water with me, thinking he’d be able to drink enough to keep cool. If I’m guessing correctly, the Goldeneye Ducks I see these days are from this year. No yellow eyes yet and slightly smaller than the adult.
Does anyone know if the youngsters become white and green when mature? I saw only brown coloured ducklets - eight ! They can’t all be female , can they?!

I waited for the birds to fly!
When I got off the train two birds were flying low over the station and when I stopped to get my camera out they flew off!! Rats
When I walked into the park I saw two birds in a tree too far away to take photos of them. They flew off and I didn’t see any of the Osprey birds again. Until I walked to the nest.
The mom was singing so loud! Beep
Beeeep or whatever sound you hear then sing.
I saw three birds in the nest area so I thought they were all there. An adult male came in with a fish and landed on a nearby light. What?! How is she letting another adult come into her territory? I looked closer at the nest and saw two orange eyed birds. Oh. That’s why!! The dad came back.
He began eating his fish but the female sang each time he ate a bite. He’d stop, look at her, no singing. Another bite, more singing. It was a little funny. Not for him though so I stopped laughing. He eventually didn’t stop eating when she sang and she stopped singing!
I gave up waiting for them to fly when he was eating. I thought no one would fly if he ate. He had 1/3 of the fish left to eat and I had been there 90 minutes. My dog was itching to continue walking. Normally he waits for me to get my photography done but lately he begs to go walking after 75 minutes waiting.

She landed further away from me and climbed her way close to me!!
I was holding my breath when she began moving towards me. When I realized she was going to keep climbing the rocks I let out my breath and kept photographing her! What a treat to see her so close !! She was singing while she explored the rocks. She had a juvenile with her!! I’m doing a separate post for the juvenile because I want total attention on both birds. Super cool!

The Goldeneye Duck family is growing fast ! Not in numbers but in size.
I was so blessed to have her around me and my dog. She saw me and she brought her babies away from me but when they swam closer to me she let them. She has five in total. She still has them all !!!

So honoured she trusted me with her little babies.
You can see how much they grew. Well looked after and make sure they eat enough. The river here is chock full of algae and greenery to eat. Also small fish. What do you think?!
Still cute ? Much less down on them.

Seeing the Pigeon in the park isn’t as common as one might think!
I have many in my neighbourhood but rarely see them in the trees and parks of my beautiful city.
I see the Pigeons with many colour combinations: here the one has much less colour than the others. The red eye stands out on the grey head.
