POV: you thought you were starting “just one more thriller” and now you’re pacing around your kitchen at 2am accusing fictional characters of crimes

Thriller readers don’t want peace.
We want emotional destruction, trust issues, and plot twists that make us stare at walls for an hour.
:
These authors didn’t write books.
They wrote psychological warfare.
Today on Litdulterous W***e we’re talking:
🩸 Gone Girl
🩸 Verity
🩸 The Silent Patient
🩸 Behind Her Eyes
🩸 Pet Sematary
🩸 The Housemaid
…and the most UNHINGED plot twists ever written.
If a book has ever made you:
📚 gasp out loud
📚 throw the book
📚 reread chapters immediately
📚 accuse the author of crimes
📚 sit in silence afterward
…welcome home, trauma goblin.

Thriller readers are genuinely unwell because why do we FINISH books that psychologically destroy us and immediately go:
“Wow. Five stars.”
This episode of Litdulterous W***e is pure thriller chaos:

Them Bones by A. Atkins is a Dark Romance, Romantic Suspense, and Gritty Murder Mystery and a local author!

I found the book at the forbidden library Yyc!

Crave The Darkness is J. Anne Scott's first novel, of the Dark Romance and also a local author I found!

I need more indie locals!

New podcast clip is up and apparently Betty and I cannot survive a serious discussion about Bird Box without completely losing it. 😂🖤

We were talking about the “safe house” scenes and the SECOND random people started showing up…
WHY did everybody immediately start acting suspicious and chaotic???

Like honestly:
apocalypse rules say you either
1️⃣ help people
or
2️⃣ panic dramatically

There is no middle ground apparently. 💀

The amount of laughing we did during this episode was unreal because the tension in this book mixed with human behavior is just SO ridiculous sometimes.

Also…
why does every horror group immediately become:
“Should we trust them?”
“Should we leave?”
“Should we fight?”
Meanwhile I’d already be crying in the corner eating canned beans.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:
In a horror apocalypse… are you the suspicious one, the overly trusting one, or the first one to die? 👀

on Book Slayers, we descend into the terrifying world of Pet Sematary — one of Stephen King’s darkest and most emotionally devastating novels. We break down the biggest differences between the book and the movie adaptations, explore the themes of grief, death, trauma, and denial, and discuss why this story still haunts readers decades later.

From Zelda’s nightmare fuel to Louis Creed’s psychological collapse, this is a deep dive into the horror the movies only scratched the surface of.

What happens when grief becomes more powerful than death itself?

In this episode of Book Slayers, we do a full deep dive into Pet Sematary and compare it to both film adaptations, including Pet Sematary and Pet Sematary.

We discuss:

The MAJOR differences between the book and movies
Why the novel is far more psychologically disturbing
The true meaning behind the burial ground
Louis Creed’s descent into madness
Zelda and childhood trauma
Pascow, Jud Crandall, and fate
Why grief is the REAL monster
Which adaptation captured the horror best

If you love horror books, Stephen King analysis, dark storytelling, psychological horror, and book-to-film comparisons, this episode is for you.

Our Pet Sematary deep dive on Book Slayers got DARK real fast 💀😂
Betty casually admitting she was hoping they’d kill the little boy too because “everyone else was already dead anyway” absolutely SENT ME 😭

Honestly this episode was chaos from start to finish and proves horror readers are not okay 😂

🎙️ Full episode on Book Slayers tomorrow!
👇 Be honest…

This is my Bonny Slayer review of the book!

Book Review - Horror - Psychological Horror

I just finished Pet Sematary by Stephen King

⭐ Star Rating: 4

This book felt like… slowly walking toward something horrifying while knowing there’s no way to stop it.

This was my first time reading this one and WOW the dread in this story is unreal.

Did I care about the characters? Absolutely. That’s honestly what made this book so devastating. The family dynamics felt painfully real.

Tropes included: grief horror, cursed places, small-town horror, family tragedy, supernatural evil.

These tropes… hit HARD emotionally and psychologically.

Pacing? Definitely slower in parts and that was my biggest issue, but once things started spiraling, I couldn’t look away.

This book made me feel: deeply unsettled and emotionally wrecked.

This book WILL make you lose sleep because the dread just keeps building and building.

Not for readers who dislike grief-heavy horror or emotionally dark stories.

QOTD: what horror book genuinely disturbed you after finishing it?
