Local production underway for ‘Legion of Honour’ series, airing on Bell Fibe TV1 in 2025.
‘Legion of Honour’ produced by local production company Eelay Media, captures the tales of bravery and sacrifice at Cobourg Legion Branch 133.
The program is a six-part documentary series featuring the past and present members of Branch 133 sharing testimonies of courage and community to ensure their stories are never forgotten.
The series will spotlight the important work of the Legion, along with the contributions of local veterans, dedicated volunteers, and community partners.
‘Legion of Honour’ is produced by Mark Johnston, Graham Beer, Deb Hulme and Jeff Morgan.
“Cobourg holds a potent and proud history of heroes in the Canadian military,” said Mark Johnston, President of Eelay Media. “Each episode displays the rich and vital role of the Canadian Armed Forces and the Legion’s contributions to the Cobourg community.”
The series includes the impact of the Poppy Campaign, insights from local veterans, including Don Ramsey and Jimmy Keeler, and the community involvement of the 598 Sabre Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets. ‘Legion of Honour’ also celebrates the inspiring legacy of Fern Blodgett Sunde, the first woman to serve as a wireless radio operator at sea, along with other compelling local stories.
“It is an honour and a privilege to be able to portray what the Cobourg Legion and its veterans do for the community,” said Janet Kyle, President of Cobourg Legion Branch 133. “Over the past year, we have donated over $52,000 through our lotteries and are thrilled to share our local impact.”
