This is the story of how one woman’s love for winter sports became her family’s way of life 🌨️🏂⛷️

Hey, I’m Sophia Gould — mama, snowboard & ski instructor, and founder of Rocky Tales, a storytelling company born in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. We create children’s books that celebrate the mountains, imagination, and the magic of outdoor play.

I grew up in Newfoundland in the ’80s, but in 2017 I traded rocky shorelines for rocky peaks, moving to Canmore, Alberta to live the mountain lifestyle so many of us millennials dream about.

Then came Sylas in 2021 — my little mountain baby who changed everything. By six months, he was sitting & gliding on a snowboard in the living room, and by 14 months, he was on snow. From his very first slide, we were hooked on sharing the stoke of winter sports with him.

Sylas’s joy on the slopes became the inspiration for my first children’s book: Rok’n Crew Snowboards, a snowy story that follows Rok (aka Sylas)! This book has been two years in the making, and I’m so stoked to start sharing it with y’all!

Every castle has its ghosts… and the Banff Springs Hotel is no exception. Nestled in the heart of the Rockies, this luxury landmark hides more than just mountain views and fine dining — it’s said to be one of Canada’s most haunted hotels.

Guests and staff alike have whispered about mysterious flickering lights, phantom bellhops, and the chilling sound of footsteps in empty hallways. The most famous? The “Bride of Banff” — a ghostly woman in white said to haunt the grand staircase where tragedy struck on her wedding day💔
