My phone rang in the middle of the school day.
“Your son has a fever, and is crying in the office. He needs to be picked up.”
And suddenly, nothing else mattered.
But here’s the reality when you’re both teachers… you can’t just walk out.
You have a classroom full of students.
You need coverage.
You’re messaging each other trying to figure out who can get there first? Who has prep? Who can leave without completely disrupting their class?
All while your child just wants you.
That feeling… being needed in two places at once… is the hardest part.
I love being a teacher. But in that moment, I hated not having the freedom to just go.
That’s when I knew I needed another option. Not to walk away from teaching, but to create flexibility. To build something that gives my family more breathing room when life happens.
Because sick kids, appointments, and real life don’t wait for the bell schedule.
If you’re a working mom who’s ever felt stuck between your job and your family, you’re not alone. And you do have options. 🤍
Comment FREEDOM and I’ll share what I started doing from home.
