We’ve had quite a few new followers lately, so I figured it’s probably time to reintroduce myself!
Hi everyone, I’m Hailey! 👋
I’m probably the person you’ll be dealing with most around here. I’m basically the farm hand, accountant, scheduler, customer service department, social media person, animal feeder, problem solver… and somehow also a mom. 😂
I oversee pretty much everything around here, which sounds way more organized than it actually is. Some days I feel like I’ve got my life together, and other days I’m standing in the middle of the yard wondering what I was supposed to be doing. 😂
I’m just a regular mom trying to keep up with life, the farm, the animals, the kids, and approximately 700 things on my mental to-do list at any given moment.
Apparently I also have a problem with saying, “Sure, why not?!” because that’s usually how we end up with MORE animals, MORE projects, or MORE work. 🤦♀️😂
So yeah… life around here is definitely not boring.
My husband, Tyler, and I are both from Kimberley, BC (Tyler is more from everywhere so we just say Kimberley 😂) , and we always dreamed of settling down in a small town, having a little acreage, a few cows, a few chickens, and becoming a little more self-sufficient.
We wanted our kids to grow up learning good values, a strong work ethic, and that sometimes you actually have to work for the things you want.
So naturally… we bought an acreage and started from scratch. 😂
Then came two beautiful kids, a whole bunch of animals, and approximately 6 years of blood, sweat, tears, long days, early mornings, late nights and probably a few questionable decisions along the way. And all we had was 2 horses and 2 dogs 😅
And somehow… we’ve built this place into something we never imagined it would become.
We now raise our own beef and pork, and our eggs are stocked at the Kootenay Co-op in Nelson, The Wynndel Store, Kootenay Food Hub and Wlokas Fruit Stand.
Sometimes I honestly stop and think, “How did this become our life?!”
And then I remember… oh yeah. We apparently don’t know how to sit still (I may be a little bit of the problem) 😂
But seriously, none of this would be possible without the people who support us.
Every customer who buys from us, shares a post, tells a friend, buys a dozen eggs, fills their freezer with our beef or pork, or simply follows along and cheers us on — THANK YOU.
You guys are seriously the real MVPs.
We’re just two people trying to build something good for our family, raise our kids, work hard, and hopefully provide good local food for other families along the way.
We’re incredibly grateful that you’ve chosen to be part of it.
So if you’re new here...welcome!
Around here you can expect cows, pigs, chickens, horses, kids, mud, probably some chaos, and me trying to keep everything running while wondering why I thought adding one more thing was a good idea. 😂
