These were last year's carrots 🌿
They'd been sitting in the fridge since fall. Some of them had already gone soft on one end.
And I was having a bad day. Not a busy day... a bad one. The kind where getting vertical is the whole project ☕
I could have left them. Honestly I nearly did. It would have been easy to shut the fridge and tell myself I'd deal with it when I felt better.
But I got up. With the Lord's help, because that's the honest version, and I stood at that counter and I peeled them 🏡
Seven jars. That's what was in there going soft, and that's what's on the shelf now.
Here's what I want you to hear.
I didn't feel like it. I wasn't at my best. Nothing about that day looked like the version of homesteading anybody puts on the internet 💛
And the carrots still got canned.
You are allowed to do it badly. Slowly. On a bad day, in the ten minutes you can actually stand up for. That still counts. That's still food on a shelf in February 🌿
Waiting until you feel good enough is how last year's carrots end up in the bin.
