Buffalo Oasis: Full Circle Coaching Let’s talk about Reconciliation.

My great great grandfather was in a regiment that fought against Louis Riel. He was honoured for his service to “Canada”.

It’s taken a few generations, but I’m here to witness that he was wrong, my illustrious ancestor.

Warriors fight not only for themselves but for the preservation of their people's way of life, their culture, and their values. The willingness to lay down one's life in defense of these intangible yet invaluable aspects speaks volumes about strength of character and depth of conviction.

The notion of sacrifice transcends physical death; it encompasses the willingness to endure hardship, challenge injustice, and confront adversity with unwavering determination. It’s a testament to the indomitable spirit that refuses to be swayed by compromise or corruption. As Russell Means aptly noted, "Compromise invites corruption." It is a call to retain one's integrity and stand firm in the pursuit and preservation of all that is sacred.

Happy indigenous day! 🤍💛❤️🩶

She's not for sale or reprints will not be made as I made this for a lady in my reserve, she inspired me in 2021 to create another beautiful pregnant lady, but with twins.
Unfortunately she miscarriaged, it took me awhile to keep painting this one piece, as I paint with my soul & full emotions🥺🤍 I love you & I hope you heal with grace.

Working on a special project so I can do a collab with a very talented dress maker to raise funds for the family.

Indigenous people never had written languages. We record our history and lineages through our art.

I don’t always know if I am doing or saying things incorrectly. I apologize if I have ever said anything to hurt anyone. All I do know is we need to do something, we need to say something. We need to use the resources we have available to raise awareness. My resources are my social media platform and my time and art.

Please if you can, donate to the link in my bio or visit their IG. My only wish right now is to get them to their goal so I can start posting about another family.

This quote from The Hallucination-Nation stuck with me. I know there are so many other movements. I will try to get to them too. 🥺

The first time I encountered the term “post-colonial lens“ was in a peace studies course at Selkirk College in the early 2000s. We students were encouraged to analyze selected writings based on different lenses, or points of view.

At the time, the assumption being presented to me was that North America was now in a post-colonial era. In the past 20 years, I have belatedly come to realize that is simply not true.

Colonization continues to infect the planet. Some countries are experiencing chronic symptoms, other populations are in acute crisis. As a nurse, I think in terms of health, or illness. Sustainability through balance, or dis-ease due to greed. Our Global community is still fighting this deadly virus.

And ground zero is each of us.

The antidote is education, self-reflection, humility, more education, honesty, generosity, and probably more education. (This is not a complete list.)

Every moment we choose to perpetuate or eradicate this illness. And that choice is directly linked to your heart.❤️

The only binary I can get behind is animate v. inanimate–a worldview held by many Indigenous People.

This worldview invites us to understand the relationship between all conscious beings. And it’s not that inanimate objects are inferior either; their consciousness just manifests differently.

The gender binary is meant to deny human expansiveness. The animate v. inanimate binary is meant to connect everything’s expansiveness.

To me, that is “God”, “Creator”, or Spirit.

Lately I’ve preferred using the term the All. That feels more like what that Connection feels like to me.

I felt the All when I took this photo.

This moment was beautiful, with my fiancé, my little pooch, the rocks, the water, the sunset—all Connected ❤️

What we’re witnessing now, globally, is colonization. The violent, dehumanizing process of seizing Land. Those who support it often use religion to justify murder, theft, destruction, abuse at every level.

Tell me, who, exactly, does your god hate?
