Iā€™ve touched on the topic of credit cards before. I am addressing this topic again because I was shopping for a new credit card today. My friend has a credit card with 4% cash back and heā€™s able to use his credit card to pay his rent! I looked up that card and they donā€™t offer it anymore. It pays to shop around once in a while to find a credit card that suits you best.

One of the best things in my years of business was being able to pay for my siding supplies with credit cards. In Canada, the credit card perks are all tax exempt and not considered a taxable benefit.

Are you maximizing the perks of your credit cards? Why not start today? Disclaimer- if you struggle with debt and managing credit card debt, it may be in your best interest to cut up your existing credit cards, pay off that debt and begin your journey of disciplined budgeting to only spend within your means.

I prefer to do fascia repairs from the roof rather than bumping the ladder back and forth or setting up multiple ladders. I bring everything up at once, even pre-punching the fascia to lock into the trim. One trip up, secure it using stainless steel colour matched ring shanked nails and I know the fascia will be secure for the life of the house. The wind blew my ladder and moved it, thankfully I was there to catch it.

I was building a little deck in my yard, instead of setting up sawhorses in the yard, pre-cutting the was much easier and more efficient since thereā€™s a built in work bench using my van. It worked out well. I didnā€™t even need to bring a saw into the yard šŸ‘Œ

There are many different ways to do mitres in J-channel. This is my favourite way of doing it since thereā€™s no little cut-off pieces that fall to the ground and it locks together nicely. I like to leave meat on the mitre so there is no sharp point to catch on anything and it accounts for expansion/contraction. The main thing is if you have more than one person working on the same project, every person on the crew should make it look the same for consistency on the project. If you havenā€™t tried it this way, give it a shot to see if you like it. You may decide to switch, or you may decide to keep doing what youā€™re used to. I hope this video adds value to someone.

I know itā€™s off by 1/16ā€ - but this is so the haters can chime in since they enjoy being negative instead of positive šŸ˜‰.

I had no idea where this ā€œexperimentā€ would go when I started this pondering question ā€œI wonder how long I can wear the same pair of socks for every day without washing them?ā€

I am the guy with clean hygiene and my wife makes fun of me for drying between every toe after I shower. I change my socks dailyā€¦until this challenge. At first I kind of wanted to beat the unofficial world record (which was 55 days set by a guy named Adam Jaber in 2022). He did it ironically in the same socks - I didnā€™t plan this as I just went to my closet and grabbed a pair that had some cushion and crew length, I later looked up what model I was wearing 30 something days into the challenge and realized the model is the 1466 Hiker.

I really just wanted a real world test to see if they would start stinking or fall apart. By the way, Darn Tough Socks socks have an unconditional lifetime warranty no matter what. Even if you feel they have lost elasticity, or they get torn, just send them in and youā€™ll get a new pair.

As I type this, Iā€™m sitting at my in-laws house still wearing the socks and they have no idea Iā€™ve been wearing them for 100 days straight. My mother-in-law is the kind of person that would tell me if I stunk too.

So, shout out to Darn Tough for making awesome socks. I hope youā€™ll accept my collab invite for this reel.

This weekā€™s episode may seem very simple and straightforward, however I have seen so many people struggle with this concept. There are people on either end of the spectrum - living either check to check, or way over-leveraged to the point where one little thing that goes wrong and theyā€™re put in a terrible position because thereā€™s no liquidity. Regardless of where you stand on financial risk, I think EVERYONE should have liquidity at all times. The size or amount of that liquidity depends on each person or individual. Personally, I have a good portion of my ā€œcushionā€ invested, but keep a portion of my portfolio in a high interest savings account so that at least itā€™s earning income, but I have access to it at anytime instantly if needed. We have often used this cushion to invest in the markets when something comes up at a ā€œgood dealā€. Thanks for sticking around for Finance Friday. This was a cool thing I saw at the Dewalt Innovation Center. Drill a hole, then auto eject the plug. The Dewalt rep advised me to wobble the drill so that the core became smaller so that I could shoot it farther. I still failed šŸ¤£, but I had fun trying it out. Itā€™s definitely handier than trying to pry out the core with a screwdriver. What do you guys think?

When you know a tool is quieter but itā€™s nice having a visual representation of how much quieter it is. I often forget to wear hearing protection and my wife always reminds me if sheā€™s around. Being here at the Dewalt Innovation Center makes me realize how much the they are actually developing for the future to makes all tools better and tools on peopleā€™s wish list.

Iā€™m pretty fortunate to have suppliers where they keep long term staff. Tyson (this man in the video) has been with this supplier for over 15 yrs I think. There are other staff at my other supplier whoā€™ve been working at there for over 20 yrs and know me by name due to the long term relationship. Iā€™ve always tried to be polite, courteous and grateful every time I go there even though itā€™s not always sunshine and rainbows. I think the staff know this so I in turn get treated the same.

Always give people the benefit of the doubt - we all have bad days and other stuff going on in our lives. Smile and treat others with respect. I hope this video is a reminder for you to do this. I am reminded daily that I need some grace at times. Thanks for watching!
