Isaac Oluwasesan Author • Speaker • Founder, ANORTHO | Helping men pursue wholeness in faith, identity, relationships & purpose. A man can stand again.

I’m Isaac Oluwasesan — author, speaker, and founder of ANORTHO, a Christian men’s movement dedicated to restoration and wholeness. My work helps men grow in faith, identity, relationships, and purpose through books, teaching, meaningful conversation, and psychology-informed insight. I believe every man is more than his wounds, failures, or limitations. No matter what life has taken, changed, or broken, there is still room to heal, grow, and rediscover purpose.

A MAN CAN STAND AGAIN.

For the past six days, we’ve been talking about wounds. Not just the obvious ones, but the things we carry quietly.

We’ve looked at patterns we sometimes call personality, things we saw growing up and carried into adulthood without realizing it, unhealthy pictures of manhood we may have inherited, shame that tells us we’re too far gone, and failures that slowly became part of how we see ourselves.

But recognizing a wound was never meant to be the destination.

The goal is restoration.

Your past may help explain some of your patterns, but it doesn't have to decide your future.

You can acknowledge what happened and still take responsibility for how you live today. You can confront what needs to change, ask for help where you need it, and begin rebuilding areas you've neglected.

And by God's grace, you can become a healthier man than the patterns you inherited.

Psalm 23:3 says: “He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.”

So after these seven days, maybe the most important question isn't simply: “What happened to me?”

Maybe it's: “Now that I can see it, what am I going to do about it?”

That's really the heart behind The Hidden Wounds Check-In.

It's not a diagnosis. It's not therapy, and it isn't a magic solution. It's simply a FREE 7-day biblical guide designed to help you slow down, reflect, recognize patterns and begin an honest journey toward wholeness.

If you've been following these posts all week but haven't gone through the check-in yet, today may be a good day to start.

A GRADE IS NOT A VERDICT

I know a young man who graduated from university with a third-class degree.

Before the result came, he had dreams. He believed he was intelligent, capable and going somewhere.

Then he saw the grade, and something inside him shifted.

When others spoke about their achievements, he became quiet.

When opportunities came, he wondered whether he belonged in the room.

When people he believed were just as capable as he were began succeeding, he struggled to hold his head up.

The grade was no longer something he had received.

It became something he believed he was.

Slowly, one disappointing result began shaping his confidence, relationships, decisions, ambitions and expectations for the future.

That is what shame does.

An experience becomes a conclusion.
The conclusion becomes a belief.
And the belief begins directing a life.

But hear me, brother:

You may have failed at something.
That does not make you a failure.

Peter denied Jesus three times. Yet Jesus refused to let Peter’s worst moment define the rest of his life.

Jesus restored him, trusted him again and said:

“Feed my sheep.” — John 21:17

Maybe your painful chapter was not a third-class degree.

Maybe it was a failed business.

A divorce.

A rejection.

A financial setback.

A career disappointment.

A ministry failure.

Or simply a season when life did not turn out the way you expected.

Ask yourself honestly:

What happened in my past that quietly changed what I believe about myself?

A result may measure one outcome.

It cannot measure a man's full potential.

The FREE Hidden Wounds Check-In can help you separate what happened to you from who you are.

YOU ARE NOT TOO FAR GONE.

Sometimes a man can look back at his life and feel like he has made too many mistakes.

Maybe there are decisions you wish you could undo, people you have disappointed, opportunities you missed, or years you feel you wasted. And after carrying that for long enough, you can quietly start believing, “Maybe this is just who I am now. Maybe it is too late for me to change.”

But I do not believe that is true.
Your past deserves honesty, but it does not deserve the power to decide the rest of your life.
You do not have to pretend what happened did not happen. And restoration does not mean waking up tomorrow with everything suddenly fixed.

Sometimes it starts with something much simpler:
“God, there is something here I need to deal with.”
That is an honest beginning.
Psalm 147:3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
I love that because it reminds me God is not intimidated by the parts of our stories we would rather hide.

Maybe you have made mistakes. Maybe you have hurt people. Maybe you have been hurt yourself. Whatever the story, there is still room for repentance, healing, and growth where needed.

There is still a next page.

That is part of why I created The Hidden Wounds Check-In. It is a free 7-day biblical guide for men who are willing to slow down, look honestly at what is beneath the surface, and begin moving toward wholeness.

No pretending that you have everything together.
Just an honest place to start.

WHEN A BOY LEARNS THE WRONG PICTURE OF A MAN

Imagine a boy growing up watching his father constantly mistreat his mother.
His father insists:
“I am the head of this house.”
But the boy's picture of headship becomes control rather than service.

The care of the children is largely left to their mother.
Then weekends come.
His father disappears, sometimes claiming he has gone away to pray, while his wife doesn't even know where he is.

The boy watches.
Nobody sits him down and teaches him: “This is how a husband behaves.”
They don't have to.
Because sometimes what a child repeatedly sees becomes a lesson without anyone ever teaching it.

Years later, the boy becomes a husband.
And without deliberately choosing it, familiar patterns begin appearing.
Distance.
Control.
Disengagement.
Absence.
A distorted understanding of what it means to be the head of a home.
Maybe he needs to ask:
“Did I choose this way of living, or did I inherit a picture of manhood that I never stopped to examine?”

Brother, your father's pattern does not have to become your destiny.
Biblical headship was never permission to dominate, mistreat or abandon responsibility.
Scripture gives us a radically different picture:
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” — Ephesians 5:25
Christ's model is sacrificial.
Present.
Responsible.
Loving.

Sometimes restoration begins when a man has enough courage to admit:
“What I saw growing up was not necessarily what God intended.”
You can honour where you came from without repeating everything you came from.

👉 The FREE Hidden Wounds Check-In can help you begin tracing the experiences, beliefs and patterns that may still be shaping how you live today.

THE HOME HE NEVER HAD

Imagine a boy growing up with his father in one place and his mother in another.
Separate homes.
Separate lives.
That becomes his earliest picture of family.

Years later, the boy becomes a man.
Now he lives in one country while his wife and children live somewhere else.
And to him, there is nothing particularly unusual about it.
He says: “A man does not have to live with his family for the marriage to work.”

But maybe geography is not the deepest issue.
Maybe there is a question he has never asked: “What did my childhood teach me about what a family is supposed to look like?”
Not every pattern we repeat is intentional.
Sometimes we reproduce what became normal to us without ever stopping to ask whether it was healthy.

Your childhood does not automatically determine your marriage. But what you repeatedly experienced can influence what you later accept as normal if it is never examined.

“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2

Brother, ask yourself:
What did I see growing up that I may be repeating today?
There is no shame in examining your story.
The greater danger is leaving the pattern unexamined and unintentionally handing it to another generation.
Your children don’t have to inherit everything you inherited.

The FREE Hidden Wounds Check-In can help you start tracing patterns, examining what may sit beneath them, and bringing those areas before God.

WHAT ARE YOU CALLING “JUST WHO I AM”?

“I don't trust people.”
“I don't talk about my feelings.”
“I prefer handling everything myself.”
“I don't need anyone.”

Sometimes we call these things personality. But sometimes, they are protection.

A man who learned that vulnerability gets punished may stop opening up. A man who experienced repeated rejection may learn not to depend on anyone. A man who was constantly disappointed may decide that trusting people is simply too expensive.

After a while, the protection becomes so familiar that he says:
“That's just who I am.”
But is it?

Here’s today’s question:
“Is this really who I am, or is this who I learned to become because of what I experienced?”

Not every behaviour has a hidden wound behind it. But some patterns deserve examination, especially when they repeatedly affect your peace, relationships, faith, or ability to connect with others.

Brother, there is no shame in asking where a pattern started, and you cannot change what you refuse to examine.

The FREE Hidden Wounds Check-In was created to help men slow down, recognize patterns, explore what may sit beneath them and begin the journey toward wholeness.

NOT EVERY WOUND BLEEDS.

A man can go to work.
Provide for his family.
Lead. Pray. Laugh. Show up for everyone.
And still be hurting.

Some wounds don't stop us from functioning. They quietly change how we function.

They can affect how we trust.
How we love.
How we respond to rejection.
How we handle conflict.
How close we allow people to come.

And sometimes, we have carried these patterns for so long that we no longer remember where they started.

Sometimes healing begins with one courageous question:
“What am I carrying that I have never truly confronted?”

That’s why I created The Hidden Wounds Check-In, a FREE 7-day biblical guide to help men slow down, identify hidden wounds, trace unhealthy patterns and begin moving toward wholeness.

You don’t have to have everything figured out.
You just have to be willing to look beneath the surface.

A NEW CHAPTER

In 2017, I started this page as Voice of His Mind. Back then, the vision centred on young people: faith, encouragement, and sharing what God placed on my heart.

Since then, life has stretched me, taught me, and deepened my understanding of people, purpose, faith, and the realities we often carry beneath the surface. I have written. I have taught. I have listened. I have learned. And I am still learning.

Today, this page begins a new chapter.

Voice of His Mind is becoming ISAAC OLUWASESAN. Not because I abandoned the original vision, but because it has grown.

This platform is now home to my work as an author, speaker, and founder of ANORTHO, exploring conversations on faith, identity, relationships, purpose, and the journey toward wholeness.

ANORTHO is a Christian Men’s movement born from a conviction that has become increasingly important to me:

A man is more than his wounds.
More than his failures.
More than what happened to him.
More than the mistakes he has made.

ANORTHO creates spaces where men can encounter truth, experience restoration, pursue wholeness, and be equipped to live with faith, purpose, and impact.

Its focus: FAITH • IDENTITY • RELATIONSHIPS • PURPOSE

We would talk about things men often find hard to discuss: faith, marriage, fatherhood, identity, emotional wounds, failure, addiction, leadership, relationships, purpose, ministry, mental and emotional well-being, and what it means to become a whole man.

This page will also remain a home for my books, ideas, speaking, reflections, and the lessons I continue to gather along the way.

So whether you have followed since the Voice of His Mind days, or you are just discovering this page, welcome.

The name has changed. The vision has grown. And the journey continues.
