It's a BOY! Meet Lincoln! 🐵

Our baby colobus monkey, born in late September, has been named Lincoln after Swing Keeper Scott Lincoln, who has been with the Memphis Zoo for 28 years.

Baby colobus monkeys are born completely white, but their fur slowly changes to black and white as they grow. By about six months old, they have the same beautiful coloring as the adults.

Happy 39th Birthday to our charming chimpanzee, Max!🎂🐒 Wishing you days ahead filled with your favorite treats, toys and lots of love from your Zoo Negara family!❤️

We made sure his birthday was extra special with some exciting food enrichments!🍰 Among them are fruity honey ice blocks, crunchy sunflower seeds and almonds in gunny sacks and boxes stuffed with coconut husks. Food enrichment is important because it encourages animals to express their natural behaviors while keeping them active and healthy☝🏻😃

We’re running into celebrations like our male white-handed gibbon, ‘Maximus’! 🏃

How can Maximus walk a tightrope with such ease? A gibbon’s foot has five toes and is extremely flexible. 🦶 One adaptation they have is an opposable big toe – this helps them to grip tree branches with their feet as they move!

You can help protect the gibbons’ forest homes by purchasing sustainable paper products – just look for the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) label! 🧻🪵🌴
