In my 30s I could sit through a stressful meeting, answer the same dumb question four times, and still smile on the way out. Now someone breathes wrong near me at 2pm and I’m mentally drafting my resignation letter in crayon.

I used to have SO much patience. For people, for chaos, for situations that made zero sense. Now I genuinely think I’d thrive more as a woman who lives in the forest with her cat, off grid, unbothered, speaking only to squirrels.

Nobody warned me this was coming. I think we just eventually run out of f***s to give — and mine didn’t run out, they filed for divorce.

If you also feel like you’re one dumb question away from shaving your head and going full umbrella-swinging Britney era… you’re not broken. You’re just in the No F*cks Era, and honestly? Kind of a glow up.

For years I was “mom.” Full stop. That was the whole sentence. And don’t get me wrong — my kid is the best thing I have ever done, no notes, no regrets. But somewhere between packing lunches and being everyone’s emotional support human, I lost track of the person underneath all of it.

Nobody warned me that would happen. You don’t notice yourself disappearing in real time. You just wake up one day and realize you haven’t asked yourself what YOU want in so long you’re not even sure you remember how.

So now, this decade? This is the one where I find out. Not because something’s wrong. Because for the first time in twenty years I actually have the time and the nerve to ask the question.

That’s not a crisis. A crisis is falling apart. This is the opposite — this is finally putting myself back together, piece by piece, on my own terms. Turns out figuring out who you really are looks a lot like “having it together” to everyone watching, and a lot like coming home to yourself from the inside.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you’re allowed to want more than the role you’ve been playing. You’re allowed to still be figuring it out in your 40s. You’re allowed to be a great mom AND a whole person having her own awakening at the same damn time.

Anyways… if you’re in your own reinvention era, drop a 🙋‍♀️ below. Let’s normalize this.

I’ve stopped trying to figure out which one it is. Growth and giving up look weirdly identical from the outside — same couch, same wine, same face that says “not today, Satan.”

Anyways, if you also can’t tell anymore whether you’re healed or just too tired to care, we should probably start a club.

Nothing a good vacation can’t fix. Well until the hot flashes kick back in that is. 🤪🤪🤪🤪

I’m pretty sure I scare my husband at least 3x a week with these perimenopausal rants. Full storytelling, hand gestures, the works. He just nods and says “that’s crazy babe” while internally planning his exit strategy.

I don’t know who needs to hear this… perimenopause didn’t make me dramatic. It just removed my filter for pretending I wasn’t already dramatic.

And that’s the cutest narrative adjustment ever.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but your nervous system doesn’t know the difference between “I’m terrified” and “I’m excited.” Same racing heart. Same sweaty palms. Same jittery stomach. The physical sensations are identical — it’s the story we tell ourselves about them that changes everything.
For years I labeled every fast heartbeat as a threat. Something was wrong. I was anxious. I needed to calm down, breathe through it, make it stop. And the more I fought it, the bigger it got.

Turns out the fighting was half the problem.
Anxiety doesn’t just show up in your body — it shows up in your self-talk too. “Why am I like this” and “I can’t handle this” send your nervous system a very different message than “okay, I’m activated, let’s go” or “this is my body getting ready, not falling apart.”
Same sensation. Completely different experience. That’s not toxic positivity, that’s just… giving your body a better instruction manual.

Anyways. Next time your heart starts racing before something big, try the inner applause thing. Or just tell yourself “I’m not anxious, I’m activated.” Your body’s not betraying you. It’s just loud about being on your team.
