I was a mess yesterday. Scrambling to get stuff done, keeping busy, all the things. Trying to not remember. The body remembers, though, everything. My mother used to be reactive around Pearl Harbor Day, and I, foolish child that I was, dismissed it. It was just history.
I'm old enough (shockingly) to remember President Kennedy being assassinated. The day the Challenger space shuttled exploded, carrying a teacher. And of course, 911. And a global pandemic. Heart-piercing moments.
I also remember many wonderful, amazing and fabulous events, but they hit my somatic memory differently. Yours, too, I imagine.
Sending love to everyone - those who remember and those for whom 911 is just a history lessson. I know with a certainty I wish were not so, that young folks will have their own experiences to pierce the heart.
