Throughout my travels, I've been fortunate enough to collect an array of small treasures, each one imbued with a rich history that has been left behind, sometimes buried deep within the earth. With the permission of the site owners, I've been able to keep and cherish these trinkets. Among my most prized possessions is a lightbulb that I stumbled upon while walking with my boss and friend, who also happened to be the owner of the grounds. He graciously allowed me to keep this memento from that memorable season, a beautiful bulb from the original hotel that once stood. One day, the three of us embarked on a walk after our shift, laughing and discussing the hidden treasures that lay scattered throughout the town, which had suffered a devastating fire in 1900. I exclaimed how thrilling it would be to discover something truly remarkable, to which my boss replied, 'Like a lightbulb, if you found one, you could keep it, but I think they're all pretty much broken by now.' As fate would have it, we decided to cut our walk short due to the impending rain, but just as the skies opened up, I spotted something glinting in a tiny crevice. To my astonishment, it was a nearly intact, original lightbulb, nestled among leaves and sticks. I couldn't contain my excitement, and neither could my companions. I eagerly asked if the offer still stood, and my boss confirmed that it did, acknowledging that my discovery was truly awesome, fantastic, and rare. I've had the privilege of holding onto this lightbulb for almost five years now, and it continues to remind me of one of the most incredible seasons of my life. I've also been fortunate enough to collect a few other treasures, which my boss allowed me to keep. During our time exploring the old grounds, we spent several weeks excavating the site. I've carefully preserved these treasures in a keepsake box, taking them out from time to time to reminisce about the thrill of discovery. One day, I plan to create a display for them on a wall, proudly showcasing the year I found them and the year they originated from. If you're interested in seeing more of the treasures I've uncovered, please let me know in the comments
If you have treasures you’d like to share put them also in the comments I love seeing them.

I've been delving into old coroners' reports from the late 1800s to the 1920s and uncovering some poignant yet captivating stories that inspire me to explore further. Tonight, I stumbled upon a ship and town that were previously unknown to me, sparking a new journey of discovery. I find this kind of research fascinating and enlightening, and it's amazing how it can reveal new insights and perspectives.
This would be the ship and more info on it and its former town
I’ll put in the comments the poor soul lost to the tragedy but it’s what sparked my curiosity.

Cheslakee was a steamship that operated from 1910 to 1913 under the ownership of the Union Steamship Company of British Columbia. In 1913, the ship sank, killing seven people. This was the only accident involving a passenger fatality in the 70-year history (1889–1959) of the Union Steamship Compan...

Richfield Part 2

Matthew Begbie, the “Hanging Judge”, travelled throughout the Cariboo maintaining the law, and had his own log cabin in Richfield *BC Archives”
As you can see the courthouse in the photos as well as a few little gopher holes as they call them it was quite neat to see more in info on the trail explaining where things used to be and all the different claims and where they are today . it seems that a lot of folks got rich in Richfield by 1922. A majority of the town decided to leave and head either to Barkerville to continue mining there and trying to strike it rich or to nearby areas to which the mining was a little bit more on the successful side.
