The bathroom in our new rental doesn’t have a towel rack, or any hooks behind the door. There’s also no toilet paper holder. 🙃

We also aren’t allowed to mount stuff to the walls. 🚫

So I ordered a towel rack, a toilet paper holder, this shower curtain and some new shower curtain hooks.

This shower curtain brings me so much joy. 🐄

May 24th, 2026 was the day our entire townhouse got packed into a U-Haul.

May 29th, 2026 was the day we set off on this big adventure.

Today marks 52 days of being homeless.
38 of those days were spent living in a tent.

To say I’m over it would be an understatement.

As hard as this journey has been, it hasn’t been all bad.

There have definitely been some humbling moments. Our tent has flooded more than once. We couldn’t charge our phones unless we walked to the public bathrooms. Every trip to a flushable toilet, a shower, or even running water meant walking across a field. I’ve been stung by a bee, and I swear the mosquitoes have treated me like an all-you-can-eat buffet. 🦟😂

But even through all of that, there have been some really beautiful moments too.

We’ve spent most of our summer outside. We’ve been more active than we’ve been in a long time. We’ve gone swimming, gotten sunburnt, then tanned. The kids have made new friends, and the dogs have loved having so much fresh air and space to explore.

There have also been a lot of real, raw emotions. Big laughs, happy moments, overwhelming stress, and some really ugly cries.

Which brings me to the best news yet…

WE GOT A RENTAL!! 🥳🎉🏡

We haven’t moved in just yet, but we’re officially counting down the days.
Here’s to saying goodbye to tent life… and hello to having walls again. 🏡

Food pantry haul for the week.
The stuff varies every Wednesday, but it really helps.

I forgot to make a post last Wednesday, so I’ll post that in the comments.

Let me give you something to laugh about…

I had to go to the washroom. 🤣
The kind of can’t hold it. If you know, you know.

Anywhos, I got to the washroom noticed the first stall was completely out of toilet paper. So I went in the second one… which looked like it had toilet paper. I had to go.. 🫠

Ya’ll it had 2 fricken squares.

I called my teen, her phone was off. I called my mom, over a dozen calls later. I was rescued with our own toilet paper.

Moral of the story… bring your own toilet paper just in case.

I’m going to start this off by saying there’s always four sides to every story.

Mine.
Theirs.
The version outsiders piece together from little bits and pieces.
And then somewhere in there… the truth.

Buckle up… or don’t. 😅 This is probably going to be a long one.

I don’t need to write your name because I know this will eventually make its way to you.

Honestly though, this isn’t even just about one person. If you’re reading this and you’re offended… maybe part of it was meant for you too.

You don’t know our situation.

You don’t know our lives.

You see a few pictures, a couple videos, maybe hear something from someone else, and suddenly you’ve got our whole lives figured out.

Could I come online and tell every single detail?

Yep.

Do I?

No.

I actually share way more than some people think I should, but trust me… I still keep a LOT to myself.

Lately I’ve been asking myself…

Why do I care what you think?

You’ve already decided you don’t like me.

You’ve already decided I’m a bad mom.

You’ve already decided I’m lazy.

You’ve already decided I don’t do anything.

And the funny part?

You don’t actually know me.

Honestly… I don’t give a crap anymore.

Have I made mistakes?

Absolutely.

Will I make more?

Probably.

It’s my first time living life too. Nobody handed me a manual. I’m figuring it out as I go, just like everyone else.

Can I do better?

Of course.

But so can literally everyone else.

Since people seem to love making assumptions, let’s clear a few things up.

1. Not all of my kids have the same dad.

gasp

I know… shocking. 🙄

Life happens. Get over it.

2. Only one of my kids’ biological dads actually pays child support. The other one avoids it.

And no… I don’t “live off child support.”

It doesn’t even cover groceries.

3. Since this one seems to be another favourite assumption…

No, I haven’t spent my life living off social assistance.

I’m 36 years old, and for the first time in my life I recently applied for assistance because we needed help.

Life happens.

4. “Why do you move so much?”

Trust me… I hate moving.

I hate packing.

I hate uprooting my kids.

But I don’t control landlords deciding to sell their homes.

I don’t control rent getting raised to ridiculous amounts.

And I also don’t stay in abusive situations just because it’s easier than leaving.

Our last two moves were because of those things.

And yes…

We’re currently living in a tent.

Yes.

We’re homeless.

Go ahead.

Judge away.

Here’s what actually matters to me.

• My kids and my dogs are together.

• They have a warm place to sleep.

• They’re safe.

• We have running water, showers, and flushable toilets nearby.

• My kids and my dogs are fed.

• They’re loved more than they’ll probably ever realize.

• My kids are outside more, exploring more, and spending way less time glued to screens.

People love saying, “That’s not how kids should live.”

Really?

If I told everyone we were spending the whole summer camping, would you still say that?

Or would it suddenly become some amazing childhood experience?

Perspective is a funny thing.

This isn’t forever.

This is where life has us right now.

And instead of sitting around feeling sorry for myself, I’m doing what I’ve always done.

I’m figuring it out.

At the end of the day, you don’t have to like me.

You don’t have to agree with my choices.

You don’t even have to understand them.

But if you’re going to judge my entire life based on a few posts on Facebook or gossip you’ve heard…

Just know you’re missing about 99% of the story.

So be fake if you want.

Judge if you want.

Talk if you want.

I’m going to keep doing what I’ve always done…

Taking care of my family.

Rain, rain, go away, come back another day.
