In today’s installment of dystopian Canadian election news:

My local newspaper — the American-owned Cape Breton Post — is running a full-page ad on the front page backing the party that plans to dismantle the CBC.

Of course, weakening the CBC would conveniently clear the way for greater market share for their American-owned local canadian news outlets.

It’s all just so bleak.

In 1962, Alexandra Wiwcharuk was found buried in a shallow grave near the South Saskatchewan River. The crime against her remains one of Canada's most haunting unsolved cases.

In Part 2 of my series, I’m joined by Sharon Butala, acclaimed author of the 'the Girl in Saskatoon' ( HarperCollins - 2008).

Sharon brings a personal connection to Alexandra's story and offers a powerful account of who Alexandra was, the work done to find the person or people responsible for her death, and what her unsolved murder says about the time, the place, and the people left behind.

🎧 In this conversation, we dig deeper into the emotional core of this case, the culture of silence surrounding it, and the decades of grief that still linger.

In , , a war is brewing over four-foot-long p***s lawn ornament. One resident has been asking the town to take action, officials say there’s nothing they can do, some neighbors are outraged, others think it’s hilarious — but after two months on display the discourse continues.

Is this an eyesore or just an extreme example of lawn decor freedom? Regardless, I tip my hat to Amherstburg for their work to KEEP CANADA WEIRD!
