I’m taking part in the CIBC Run for the Cure this year as a breast cancer survivor, and I am asking for your support.
At 30, I was diagnosed with DCIS, Stage 0, Grade 2 breast cancer. I never thought I would hear the word cancer at this age. What followed was a whirlwind of appointments, decisions, and ultimately a bilateral mastectomy with immediate DIEP reconstruction.
It was not just physical. It was emotional, overwhelming, and at times really isolating. There were moments where I had to advocate for myself and be stronger than I felt.
But I got through it.
Now, being able to take part in The Run for The Cure means more than I can fully explain. It is about celebrating how far I have come, while supporting others who are in the middle of their own journeys right now.
1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. I never thought I would be one of them. I have shared more of my story with Glamour Magazine and on my podcast, One of Eight.
If you are able to donate, even a small amount, it truly makes a difference. Funds raised support research, resources, and real people going through some of the hardest moments of their lives.
If this resonates with you, I hope you will consider supporting. If you can donate and/or share, it would mean so much to me!
Donate to my CIBC Run for the Cure fundraising page and help me raise funds for groundbreaking breast cancer research in Canada.
