Dear neighbours, colleagues and friends,
A creative industries district in the most creative of places. It is an inspired idea and hundreds of us contributed to sculpting it. It’s an idea worth fighting for.
Back in 2022 a thousand neighbours and stakeholders participated in a virtual survey about this project, and support for it was near unanimous. Hamilton wants the Bayfront Studio District.
But every idea has its time, and these are not ordinary times.
The land development market has collapsed. The film industry has turned sharply down. Arts grant funding has dried up. And the pioneering organizations that helped Aeon found the Bayfront Studio District have retrenched to safely ride out the storm.
Today Aeon makes the strategic decision to retrench as well in order to reconstitute the team and prepare to finish the job of realizing the Bayfront Studio District in Hamilton once the market conditions improve- as they always do.
