Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ✨

What I loved:
💜 Fitz being Fitz
💜 Fitz and The Fool
💜 The romance between Fitz and Molly
💜 The character development and relationships between Verity, Burrich, Chade, Fitz, etc.
💜 The BIG reveals and omg things I can't say cause spoilers

What you might not love:
💔 Slow-paced book
💔 Torture

I can't believe I'm saying this, but... I loved Moby Dick A LOT. 🐋

Moby Dick or, The Whale by Herman Melville ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I was worried going into it that it would be another classic that made me want to pull my eyes out — but obviously that was not the case.

When you think of Moby Dick, you are likely to think about the revenge aspects of it via Captain Ahab. But the story is way more than that; in fact, I’d say that is a very small part of what this story really is.

What I loved:
🐋 The wildly detailed 1800s whaling life + random whale facts
🧠 Big themes to ponder: religion, class, ethics, racism, and what it means to be human.
🌈 The intensely queer-coded relationships and the fact that this book is literally dedicated to another man.

What you might not like:
💔 I really loved this book, but I warn you that you need to understand it is not an epic sea journey.

I finally read my first Robin Hobb book, and I FULLY understand the hype!

Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Epic fantasy that’s super character-driven, low on dialogue, and high on vibes.

We follow Fitz as he grows up in the shadow of royalty and is secretly trained as an assassin.

What I loved:
💜 The proper way to use “show, don’t tell”
💜 How deeply we sit in Fitz’s head without it ever feeling boring
💜 The slow pace that still managed to keep me hooked the whole time

What didn’t totally work:
💔 If you need fast plots and constant action, this might feel a bit too slow-burn.

Starting book two ASAP!!
