We are proud to share "The Land Remembers" - our collaboration with WWF-Canada for their Living Planet Report Canada 2025.

This project features the powerful voice of Christi Belcourt and Nolan's cousin Janna Wale, weaving together Indigenous perspectives on our relationship with the land and wildlife. The report reveals that wildlife populations in Canada have declined by 10% on average since 1970 - a sobering reminder of what's at stake.

Working on environmental storytelling projects like this connects directly to our mission at Orenda Films. Indigenous knowledge and voices are essential to understanding our relationship with the natural world and finding paths forward for healing and recovery.

As Christi's narration reminds us in the film, "Their story is our story too. And not all is lost."

The collaboration between WWF-Canada, Indigenous storytellers, and filmmakers like us demonstrates the power of authentic partnerships in creating content that can drive real awareness and change.

Our Story

Orenda Films Inc. (formerly Alpha-Omega Productions) is an award winning and provincially recognized, 100% Indigenous owned film production and video solutions firm (incorporated in the province of BC). We have helped gather, share and tell the stories of people (both Indigenous and non-Indigenous) and businesses all over Canada. On this journey, we have learned that there is a force present that connects all of us as human beings. This led us to change our name from Alpha-Omega Productions to Orenda Films. After researching and searching for an Indigenous word that we felt represented ourselves and our business, we stumbled upon the word “Orenda.” Orenda is the Iroquois name for a spiritual energy inherent in people, that empowers people to change the world and themselves in a positive, loving way. We feel that “Orenda” describes the experience, feeling and connection we want our clients and audiences to have with the films/videos that we produce.

We have experience working with a broad cross-section of organizations from not-for-profits, to commercial businesses to communities, including many Indigenous communities and organizations. We have extensive experience working with Indigenous citizens, including elders and youth, on a broad spectrum of topics. We have also worked with high profile film producers including Academy recognized directors and have been commended for our work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality productions on budget and on time. We have also received specialized cinematography training from the American Society of Cinematography through their International Masterclass (Pinewood Studios, Toronto, Ontario).
