I managed to build over $300k in investments on a $50k average salary, just by being obsessed with intentionality.
It’s a new month, so here are the 7 things I’m doing right now to keep my money working as hard as I do!
1
Review my credit card statements to make sure everything looks a-ok. No weird transactions or subscriptions i forgot about. This is also the perfect time to pay them off in full.
2
Allocate any money left over from the month before. I keep a 1 month buffer in my every day cash account, the rest goes to investing or other sinking funds.
3
Review my income vs expenses for last month. Do i need to cut back in certain places or can i bit a bit more relaxed this month? I note any purchases I might have made that felt unintentional or regretful. Not to shame myself, but to take note.
4
Assess incoming income. Since i’m self employed and don’t have a 9-5 paycheque to rely on, getting an idea of my baseline ‘guaranteed’ income let’s me know if I need any extra hustle.
5
Set up my finance tracker for a fresh new month. Input whatever expenses are fixed/the same as last month AND note any events, celebrations, or spendy days that might be coming up.
6
Log my net worth (also in my finance tracker!). Seeing this number go up feels good and this active logging means i’m auditing all my accounts and assets.
7
I check in on my money goals for the month and the year. Am i on track to hit them? Do i need to pivot/adjust/rethink?
This little audit takes about 10 minutes—I’m making sure my money is actually buying me the freedom I want.
If you want access to the money management system/finance tracker I built (and use!) comment ‘SYSTEM’ and i’ll send you the link—just the price of a few fancy lattes for financial clarity!
