Large hail is a risk across much of Southern Alberta again today.

Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop in the mid to late afternoon in the Foothills, which will spread southeastward through the evening and overnight. We could be looking at a repeat of yesterday with supercell thunderstorms possibly producing golf ball or larger sized hail and wind gusts in excess of 100km/h.

To the northwest of Calgary, shown as Area C, there is also the risk for severe storms, but they should be slightly weaker than those to the south. Thunderstorm development is also expected to begin in the mid to late afternoon in this area and these storms could be supercell thunderstorms as well. The hail from storms here should be smaller than what is expected from the southern storms, but there is still the potential for toonie to Timbit-sized hail and strong wind gusts through the afternoon and evening.
