Emancipation Day Celebration! Remember the past, by joining together today!

On August 1st of 1834, the Slavery Abolition Act came into effect for the British Empire. In Canada, communities began holding Emancipation Day events to commemorate the day. In London Ontario, these celebrations often included parades around the core of the city.

There she meets an array of colorful characters including witches, three Gentlemen of Oz - a scarecrow come to life, a man made of pewter and a cowardly lion, a mysterious Wizard, and many others!

John Davidson will once again take to the road in a moving tribute to his late son in honour of the 30th anniversary of Jesse’s Journey. On Tuesday, June 10, John will walk 30 kilometres from the Jumbo the Elephant Monument in St. Thomas to Victoria Park in London, retracing the historic route he and Jesse completed in 1995.
