I think the little boy in me wearing an Orlando Magic snapback, begging his parents for Shaq Attaq action figures, always wanting to play as Shaq in NBA Jam, owning all of his early rap albums, playing Shaq-Fu on the Sega Genesis, and getting his tito and tita to rent Kazaam on VHS would think I’m the coolest person ever.
I hope that version of me as a little boy is proud of the man I’ve become.
Even though the current version of me, a man nearing 40, doesn’t always feel great about who I am or what I’ve become, I’d like to think that little kid would look at me and think we turned out pretty damn cool.
