David Kemp is a pretty interesting guy - he’s spent time up in Baffin Island, has travelled all sorts of places, and lived in a home that’s been in his family for generations.

He invites you to join him at Knox Presbyterian Church in Mitchell, this Friday evening from 7-9pm where he will share his love of Scottish dancing and hopefully impart something fun to participate in! Everyone is invited to come and dance. A free will offering will be collected to help offset the cost of the church hall.

Hey look! It’s baby Jacob Vorstenbosch (and unknown other serious dude) Ok, so he’s not actually a baby - but he’s got much less facial hair at age 12 than he does at 30ish.

In this article, Jacob makes a case for why you should join the Legion Concert Band! I was fed false information for the print copy (I won’t name names, I’ll just point accusingly at the author of this article) - so please be aware that the first practice is on the 15th - not the 8th!

The Mitchell & District Agricultural Society has been hard at work getting everything ready for the fall fair!

We get the privilege of sharing some of Clare French’s memories about the Mitchell Fair in 1953 and you can read along on our substack.

We’ve had some unavoidable delays with deliveries this month, but we’ve heard your cries, and have added the past few issues (and the current one) to our website.

Downtown Mitchell has their copies, but the surrounding areas are still waiting on theirs. We’ll make a post once the outskirts have copies and you’re always welcome to make some deliveries for us!

This is a record month for errors in the Heronry. So far we have “it’s vs its” mistakes, Deck’s tooth maze chopping off letters in the side column text (maybe it has tartar build up?) and Claire Nicholson’s name is spelled wrong in a 32pt title!

I’m looking forward to seeing Alymer’s Ghost in Mitchell! In addition to the two showings at the Crystal Palace in late September there is also BYO chair showing at Foster’s Farm on October 4 at 3pm (doors open at 2:30pm).
