With only 5 days left for the release date of the second volume, I compiled images that are part of the process and inspiration of what was the second issue of Creadoras. 🌺

The process for the second issue has required patience, a relearning of what I had done for the first volume, but had forgotten. By this I mean layout work. The biggest change has been learning to ask for help. In the first volume I realized that the work of putting together a publication requires a lot of work that is often invisible: inviting collaborators, asking for editions, re-editing, designing, drawing and promoting. This time I knew that I couldn't do all this tasks alone, I needed a team.

That's why this year I was lucky to have the help of my friend , who was in charge of social networks. Her meticulous work lightened my load and allowed me to focus more on the other tasks.

Faltando solo 5 días para el lanzamiento del segundo volumen recopilé imágenes que enclausuran parte del proceso e inspiración de lo que fue el segundo volumen de Creadoras.

El proceso para la segunda edición ha exigido paciencia, un volver a aprender lo que había hecho para el primer volumen, pero que había olvidado. Con esto me refiero al trabajo de diagramación. El cambio más grande ha sido aprender a pedir ayuda. En el primer volumen me di cuenta que el trabajo de armar una publicación requiere mucho trabajo que muchas veces es invisible: invitar colaboradoras, pedir ediciones, editar nuevamente, diseñar, dibujar y promocionar. Esta vez supe que no podía hacer toda esta tarea sola, necesitaba un equipo.

Por eso, este año tuve la suerte de contar con la ayuda de mi amiga , quien se encargó de las redes sociales. Su trabajo meticuloso me aligeró la carga y me permitió enfocarme más en las otras tareas.

Charlene, Marlene and I met IRL in Vancouver. It was amazing to finally meet these amazing artists, friends, and collaborators. ✨

Marlene was generous enough to host us for a studio visit, and we got to peek into her upcoming projects. We saw some of her new series of work made in collaboration with her daughter. Using her own toy legos, her kid builds a design, which Marlene then carefully takes back to her studio in order to ink and print.

We also got to see the meei tai that inspired the short comic featured in the upcoming issue of Creadoras 2. In Marlene's words: “I received this mei tai (baby carrier) from my mom. She wore it when she was busy with household chores. By the time she gave it to me, it was a bit too big. I think she wanted me to have it as a family memento.”

We are very much looking forward to seeing her upcoming work! 💥

Everything that I have done in the last two years, artistically, is linked to Matrilineage. In the end, I try to live according to what Luisa Muraro calls the symbolic order of the mother.
This order seeks to reconfigure our search for meaning to one that recognizes and puts in the right place the role of our mothers in our lives and in that of the rest of humanity.
As creators of life, and being the ones who gave us the gift of language, we must recognize the mother's work.

Todo lo que hecho en estos últimos dos años, artísticamente, está ligado al Matrilinaje. Finalmente, trato de vivir según lo que Luisa Muraro llama el orden simbólico de la madre.
Este orden busca reconfigurar nuestra búsqueda de sentido a uno que reconozca y ponga en lugar justo el rol de nuestras madres en nuestras vidas y en el del resto de la humanidad.
Cómo creadoras de vida y siendo quiénes nos regalaron el don del lenguaje, corresponderles a ellas, comienza por reconocer su obra y empezar a reconocer la obra de tantas mujeres invisibilizadas y al mismo tiempo tan próximas a nosotras.

I'll tell you a little about how Matrilineage came to be the theme of the second issue 🌺

Since I made the first issue I knew that I wanted to focus the second on dialogues with women from different generations, particularly older ones. As women, this is the key to understanding our own existence and work.

Many times we live large parts of our lives distanced from other women who have been concerned about the same things as us and who have dedicated their lives to thinking about them from their own contexts.

But it was who gave me the name "matrilineage" when I was looking for a title at the time of posting the call. This word encapsulated what I wanted to convey: to recognize ourselves within a continuum of women who have sought to create and reveal the depth of existence.

Les cuento un poco sobre cómo llego Matrilineaje a a ser el tema del segundo volumen de Creadoras:

Desde que hice el primer volumen supe que quería enfocar el segundo en diálogos con mujeres de distintas generaciones, particularmente mayores. Como mujeres está es la clave para entender nuestra propia existencia y obra.

Muchas veces vivimos gran partes de nuestras vidas distanciadas de otras mujeres que se han preocupado por las mismas cosas que nosotras y que han dedicado sus vidas a pensarlas desde sus propios contextos.

Pero fue la que me regaló el nombre " matrilineaje" cuando buscaba un título en el momento de publicar la convocatoria. Esta palabra encapsulaba lo que yo quería transmitir: reconocernos dentro de un continuo de mujeres que han buscado crear y revelar la profundidad de la existencia.
