Woody Clermont has made history as the first male judge elected in , marking a significant milestone in the county’s judicial history. His investiture ceremony took place on February 28, 2025, at the main Courthouse in .
Clermont’s journey to the bench is a testament to his dedication to public service and justice. Born in , , to parents, he has built a remarkable career, serving as an Assistant State Attorney in the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office from 2005 to 2010. During his tenure, he gained invaluable prosecutorial experience, handling various cases and developing a strong understanding of the justice system.
Clermont’s appointment marks a significant achievement. He follows in the footsteps of Florence Taylor Barner, the first Haitian American judge elected in County in 2016. As a County Court Judge, Clermont is assigned to the South Regional Courthouse in Hollywood, where he will handle cases in Criminal Division SB and Civil Division 62.
