Hey All!

We are back with another webinar!

About six years ago, .olajumoke and I () arrived in Canada as international students with a clear determination to succeed. Now we recognize that some of the most important decisions we made were in the early weeks and months of our stay in Canada. In fact, they shaped some of the successes and accomplishments that have come our way since we moved here.
That's why we are inviting new and returning international students to join us at this event where we will be sharing tips we hope you will find useful.
Our guest speakers are former and present international students who have a lot of knowledge to share with you on how they navigated their first few days in Canada. This would be a great opportunity to come network and connect with them as well as other international students

This weeks edition of Travel Tuesday features Shagun’s eventful trip to Bowmanville, Ontario. She shares her experience completing some of the hiking trails in the area (without breaking a sweat😉)
“There’s nothing like exploring a new place on foot👣 Yesterday we layered up, laced up our winter boots and ventured into this new trekking trail only twenty minutes away from home. It was one of the many windiest days here with a temperature of -8’C (feels like-14’C with wind chill), but felt so amazing to be outside in this beautiful winter landscape with over 18 km of hiking trails.

We completed cottontail rabbit trail 🐰 (2.1 km), white-tailed deer trail 🦌 (3.7 km) and barter-owl trail 🦉 (2.9 km) in about 4.5-5 hours without breaking a sweat! Just kidding. It wasn’t easy to walk in super thick snow without snow shoes or a walking pole so I exhausted myself midway and my legs began to cramp really bad with every forward move. (should’ve been exercising my legs at home!) So I continued the remaining trek walking backwards instead! Glad I practiced some backward walking.

It the longest I’ve trekked in winter so far walking backwards. Head out to my stories to see more

This week’s edition of Travel Tuesdays features Whitehorse, the capital city of Yukon, a territory in northwest Canada. According to archeological records, people of First Nations origin, including the people of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta'an Kwäch'än Council, have lived in the area since the end of the last Ice Age. Whitehorse is also a known place for viewing the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) which are most clearly seen between January to mid-April due to the long, dark winter nights. Some interesting things to do here include:

1. Take a hike through the Miles Canyon terrain
2. Visit the Yukon wildlife preserve
3. Take a dive into the Takhini hot springs, the 47 degree celsius natural mineral water.

This weeks edition of Travel Tuesdays features the famous Niagara Falls!
The city of Niagara Falls sits on the Canadian side of the border and takes its name from the world famous falls.
Niagara Falls is actually made up of three waterfalls, the biggest of which is the Horseshoe, or Canadian Falls, which straddles the border with the US.
Although the major attraction in this city is the breath-taking waterfalls, there are alot more thrilling things to do after seeing the falls:
1. You could climb the 236 meters high Skylon tower which has amazing panoramic views of the waterfalls.
2. You could ride the Niagara sky wheel in Clifton Hill fun park
3. You could also Zipline 67 meters above the falls!

Other attractions in the city include the Frankenstein house, the upside down house and the Ripley’s odditorium!
