It was popping over 9,000 years ago in ancient Mesoamerica.

Long before it became a movie-night snack, popcorn was part of rituals.
Bernardino de Sahagún, a 16th-century chronicler, wrote that toasted maize, called momóchitl, was scattered like hail in offerings to the gods of water and fishing.

🌽 ¿Sabías que las palomitas no nacieron en el cine...?
Hace más de 9,000 años, los pueblos mesoamericanos ya hacían reventar el maíz. Las palomitas eran más que un antojo, formaban parte de rituales y ofrendas.
Bernardino de Sahagún documentó que los mexicas ofrecían momóchitl, un maíz tostado que reventaba como flor blanca, a los dioses del agua. También hacían collares de palomitas que llevaban doncellas y sacerdotes en ceremonias.
🍿 Palomitas, crispetas, rosetas... Son mucho más antiguas de lo que imaginamos. Estaban presentes en danzas, en fiestas, en la vida ritual de nuestros ancestros.

Mustard seeds have a natural compound that releases their strong flavor when mixed with water. But here’s the thing: that spicy punch doesn’t last! To preserve its flavor, you need vinegar—and that’s why mustard is acidic. It's the vinegar that locks in the taste (and gives it that tangy kick).

But you don’t have to take my word for it… you can test it yourself!
