Samuel Piette was asked about his journey through his injury that has plagued him since the Houston game:
Yes, I'll try to keep this as short as possible, even though I know it's very difficult for me to do so. Basically, what I seem to have, and it's not 100% confirmed yet because there are still other possibilities, is called a perilymphatic fistula, you can look it up. In my own words, from what I've told my family and friends, it's a kind of bone crack in my right ear that causes fluid to travel much more easily than normal, which caused dizziness, nausea, lightheadedness, vomiting, etc. Obviously, these symptoms were accentuated during physical exertion or contact and blows to the head as well. So that seems to be taken care of. The crack now seems to be sealed thanks to medication and cortisone, along with rest. We also think that there may have been some kind of concussion involved that could have caused these symptoms. So, it's still a bit unclear, but I'm feeling better. I haven't had any episodes since the last game against Puebla in early August. Of course, I've had some rest and I've also been cycling a lot in the meantime. I've been training on the field for three weeks now, and since this week with the group, but physically, I feel good. Of course, the real test is in a game because my episodes always happened during games. So, we'll see tomorrow, first of all, how I'm used. Obviously, if I only play five, ten, fifteen minutes, it's going to be difficult to see if everything is back to normal because it happened when I played a little longer. But if I'm in the starting lineup and play a little longer than that, then we'll see if it holds up or not. We have to test it to see where we stand. But otherwise, I'm fine.
