Hi everyone, we'd like to bring to your attention something happening very quietly in the background in Canadian politics. The government is in the process of voting in Bill C-11, which would regulate online streaming in Canada - giving them power to decide what content is promoted, approved, and placing difficult obligations in the face of indie creators. This not only affects us or Youtube, it affects everything you use & every Canadian you follow - Netflix, Spotify, Tiktok, ect. If you're not a Canadian, it still affects you as a viewer because this will most likely jeopardize global availability of Canadian entertainment by negatively impacting the rankings on the global scale. What this also means for Canadians is you will likely see less American and International content in favour of CanCon content forced into your feed.
If you'd like to learn more or sign a letter as a viewer/creator, you can do so here. You can sign this as a global citizen: https://digitalfirstcanada.ca/bills/fix-c11/
We appreciate any shares of this information & the link. There is an active effort to suppress discussion of this bill.
