OPP ENFORCEMENT INITIATIVE RESULTS IN MULTIPLE SUSPENSIONS AND CHARGES AT SANDBANKS

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) - Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in partnership with the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team, OPP Marine Unit, and park wardens, conducted a series of enforcement initiatives at Sandbanks Provincial Park during the annual "Skip Weekend."

Through multiple RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) programs and proactive patrols, approximately 900 vehicles were checked, resulting in numerous enforcement actions.

As a result:

• Multiple seven-day driver's licence suspensions were issued for alcohol-related offences, including warn-range readings and novice drivers registering blood alcohol concentrations above zero.
• Two individuals were arrested for impaired driving. Both were later released, and licence suspensions were imposed.
• Officers seized significant quantities of alcohol from individuals under the age of 19. In several instances, the alcohol was located inside vehicles while they were being operated, leading to charges under the Liquor Licence and Control Act.
• Charges were also laid for having cannabis readily available within a vehicle.

Police also responded to several incidents during the enforcement period, including a youth requiring medical attention after consuming alcohol and cannabis, a stolen vehicle investigation that resulted in an arrest, and multiple traffic-related occurrences that led to additional charges and warnings.

The OPP reminds all motorists that enforcement efforts will continue, and there is zero tolerance for impaired or unsafe driving.

Coordinated Response Leads to Safe Ex*****on of Drug Trafficking Search Warrant

Article by: Kingston Police

On May 29, 2026, Kingston Police executed a planned search warrant at a residence in the area of Conacher Drive as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug trafficking activity.

The investigation, led by the Kingston Police Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) with support from Special Services, was initiated following information identifying a residence as a location being used to traffic fentanyl, co***ne, and crystal methamphetamine. Investigators determined that drugs were being stored and sold from the unit and believed it to be involved in a trafficking operation.

Given the potential risks associated with the environment and individuals involved, the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) was deployed to assist in executing the warrant safely and effectively.

During the operation, ERU officers, followed by DEU members, made entry into the residence after breaching the door. Additional officers, including the K9 unit and DEU members, secured the perimeter.

During the entry, three individuals attempted to flee to a balcony, where they threw a loaded handgun and a quantity of cash off the balcony. ERU officers quickly apprehended the three individuals and took them into custody without further incident.

As a result of the search warrant ex*****on, Kingston Police seized:

Over 3 ounces of fentanyl
$3,785 in Canadian currency
One loaded handgun
The individuals involved are believed to have connections to the Greater Toronto Area.

This investigation highlights the coordinated efforts of Kingston Police units working together to target active drug trafficking locations in the community.

“I want to recognize the outstanding coordination and professionalism demonstrated by our members across multiple units in this investigation. The successful outcome reflects strong teamwork, careful planning, and decisive ex*****on, which directly contributed to the removal of dangerous drugs and a firearm from our community and enhanced public safety.” – Chief Adam MacIntosh
