Debt-free living is less about making one big financial change and more about building habits that keep you from going back into debt.
A few habits can make the process easier to maintain:
β’ Pay off credit card balances and stop adding new debt
β’ Save automatically so unexpected expenses are less likely to go on a credit card
β’ Separate needs from wants before making spending decisions
β’ Pause before large purchases and give yourself time to reconsider
β’ Build a budget that reflects your actual priorities
β’ Talk openly about money if you share finances with someone
The goal is not to avoid spending altogether. It is to create enough control over your money that your income can support your priorities instead of constantly being used to pay for the past.
Once high-interest debt is under control, redirect the money you were using for payments toward your emergency fund and long-term investing.
