Coming from a generation of being a bedroom kid....
As an introvert I could see the potential for having a quiet place to retreat or recharge.
Personally, spending majority of my time to play, study or need a bit of privacy, just go to my bedroom. No messy living rooms or rooms where majority of the family gathered, no toys, no play, it often felt more like an adult gathering place because the room was white and was labeled "the white room" (did any other families have a designated room for just adults only that children were not allowed in?)
This was the norm for alot of my childhood friends and I.
Here's why I choose to do it differently and RAISE living room kids:
I want my children to be fixtures in shared spaces in our home. I want to see them carry their toys, watch them play, sit on their phone or laptop while they study or chat with their friends. I want my space to be lived in, because it is. One day, all these rooms will be quiet.
I want my children to feel emotional connection, have healthy attachment to us as their parents, emotional safety, and feel welcomed in the fold 😊
Its not always perfect, but it's worth the effort as they're only a small age for a little while. ♥️
