I AM THE MAN-SPIDER! Spider-Lou from the kids comedy show OH YUCK! This role was one of my all-time career faves.

Oh Yuck! was a wildly funny kids show that took place in a wacky world of puppets, robots, cartoons and more! Every day on set felt like I was in Pee-Wee's Playhouse (Dr Yucks's Laboratory). I remember feeling so giddy every time I got a new episode script.

The physical humor and jokes just flew off the page and I was always laughing through the first read through. Playing Lou "the main man" Handy was a daily joy.

My first day on set was a full-blown food fight scene and we destroyed the set whipping food at eachother.

PURE JOY! What's the role you've had the most fun playing? Let me know in the comments...

The instructions ask for a medium shot, so you stay perfectly still in a medium shot for the entire scene.

So does everyone else.

Here’s a secret that will make your audition unforgettable...

The camera is not only recording your audition. It can help you tell the story.

A change in distance can reveal intimacy. Movement can shift the power. A close-up can give casting the hero moment they need to picture you in the role.

Every adjustment must be motivated by the scene. But do not waste the storytelling opportunities inside the frame.

Careers are made by close-ups. Make sure casting gets yours.

Audience participation is always a gamble.

I asked for a weird human trick. He turned his eyelids inside out.

Would you ever volunteer at a comedy show?

Casting rarely tells you why one audition got a callback and the next one disappeared into silence. Without a system, the preparation, choices, notes and outcome get scattered across your inbox, phone and memory. Then the next audition arrives and you start from zero again.

AuditionOS turns your preparation, choices, callbacks and bookings into a personal audition playbook that gets smarter every time you submit. Prep with a repeatable process, track what happened and see the patterns behind your strongest results.

Strawberries. Raspberries. Blueberries.

My childhood jobs covered almost every berry.

Almost.

What was your worst/best childhood job?

Your final line does not have to be your final moment.

After 17 years acting and 10 years coaching more than 7,000 self-tapes, I’ve seen how often the final beat becomes the image that makes an audition stick.

Instead of leaving the frame or ending on nothing, ask what YOU think, feel or do next.

That answer can become the button that completes the scene and gives casting one last compelling image.

The key is story. A button is not random business. It should feel like the moment that was always meant to happen next.

When I played Bill in Tales from the Void, I stopped asking, “How do I make him threatening?” and asked, “How does he believe he is helping?”

That choice made him less like a predictable bully and more ambiguous. Maybe he is dangerous. Maybe he is right.

In your next audition, stop playing the label. Find the belief that makes the character human.

What does your character believe they are right about?

You can deliver a strong scene and still submit a visually forgettable self-tape.

Here’s a secret that will make your audition unforgettable...

Turn off the sound and slowly scrub through your self-tape.

Could you pull a single screenshot that tells part of the story?

Can you see where the power changes? Where something lands? Where casting could picture you in the finished production?

If every frame looks exactly the same, your acting may be strong while the visual story remains forgettable.

Let the scene affect your eyes, your body and your relationship to the space.

Give casting an image they can remember.

You deliver the final line, drop the scene and reach for the camera.

But casting is still watching.

Here’s a secret that will make your audition unforgettable...

Create a button. A final thought, reaction or action that completes the story and gives casting one last compelling image.

It might be the realization after the confession. The decision you make after hearing their answer. The look that reveals what you cannot say.

Your button should not be random business. It should feel like the moment the scene was always leading toward.

Do not throw away your last look.
