This is such a wonderful program, and great collaboration between the Friends of Petrie Island and the Ottawa Public Library / Bibliothèque publique d'Ottawa! 💚

✨ The turtle eggs have begun to hatch at 📍Cumberland Branch! Thanks to the combined efforts of OPL, Friends of Petrie Island and the Canadian Wildlife Federation / Fédération canadienne de la faune. Eggs from at-risk native turtle species: northern map, snapping, and Midland painted turtles, were collected and incubated this summer. 🐢With threats like habitat loss, road fatalities, and natural predators, we're so glad to partake in conservation work, helping these little hatchlings take their first steps toward a brighter future. 📗Read our blog and booklist to learn more ➡️ https://tinyurl.com/yswm3deu

💚💚💚

🚧 IMPORTANT ROAD CLOSURE NOTIFICATION 🚧

🚧 IMPORTANT ROAD CLOSURE NOTIFICATION 🚧

📢Phase two of the Navan Road full closure starts this upcoming Tuesday🚧

Starting Tuesday, August 12 until Friday, August 29, phase two of the Navan Road closure will begin. This is the shortest—but more restrictive—closure of the project, as it involves the complete shutdown of both the Pagé/Renaud intersection and the access at Falsetto/Navan that was once open during the first phase of the closure.

Vehicular access from all directions will be fully restricted during this time on Navan from Falsetto to Renaud, and drivers will need to follow the detour plan provided. You will not be able to travel south-east down Navan Road from the roundabout at Brian Coburn to Renaud, nor north/south on Pagé Road in the triangle between Navan and Renaud, or enter the access at Falsetto/Navan.

Local access only to all homes and businesses before Falsetto within the small closure segment will be maintained throughout the construction period. Please continue to support our local small businesses during this time. Detours remain in place via Brian Coburn and Mer Bleue.

OC Transpo has confirmed that there will be detours for buses, bus stop impacts, and there may be delays to bus service in the area. Detour information is available on their alerts page here https://www.octranspo.com/en/alerts/, and their Mobile Operations team will be actively monitoring service starting Tuesday to respond to any emerging issues.

A reminder that this closure is part of a major infrastructure project supporting the development at the corner of Brian Coburn Boulevard and Navan Road—entirely separate from Eastboro and unrelated to Ashcroft Homes.

I appreciate that road closures are never ideal. Please plan ahead and allow extra time while travelling through the area. Thank you for your patience as we work through this necessary construction.
