Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦 Today we're sharing this developing scene from Diefenbaker: One Canada. Young John Diefenbaker and his family are travelling west from Neustadt, Ontario to Saskatchewan in 1903, a move made largely because of his father’s failing health, believed to have been tuberculosis. After their provisions were mistakenly sent on the wrong train, fellow passengers—likely immigrants from Eastern Europe—shared food and blankets with them.
It feels like a fitting moment for Canada Day: strangers helping strangers in a new land, with kindness crossing language and background.
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our crowdfunder so far! We’re extending it through the summer as we continue building this film.
