KoMedia

KoMedia Bringing your stories to life. KoMedia was founded by Komal Minhas after she discovered her passion for videography, editing and filmmaking.

In January 2011, before embarking on a development project with a non-profit Recrear (www.recrear.ca) in Nablus, Palestine, Komal decided she wanted to capture the stories of the students Recrear was working with. She filmed the duration of her trip and realized an inherent need to share the stories of changemakers around the world. Since then she has helped produce special interest videos for loc

al spoken word poets, activists and television networks and looks to expand her portfolio through KoMedia.

Curated by Komal: When To Say Yes? -

As you're building your business or personal brand, it's important to be specific about they kinds of things you say yes to. I have struggled the last few months with keeping my promise to myself to not travel. I knew March would be a month full of opportunities for speaking and sharing my story wit...

Curated by Komal: How I Found My Purpose in Life Again -

Exactly two years ago this week, I was diagnosed with cancer. There's definitely been some melancholy to the last few days, and to be honest, I didn't even realize why I was feeling the way I was until earlier today. It dawned on me what time of year it is, and I pulled out my calendar and scrolled....

It's time to level up. Here's what I've been working on the last few weeks, a 3-minute video about the past two years.

The past year I have been working on figuring out how to best tell my story. The issue was, so much of my story was still in process which meant I couldn't really start telling it properly. I was still in recovery. My heart was still broken about leaving New York and Dream, Girl. That chapter had n...

Just do it. You'll feel better once you do, I promise! // Curated by Komal -

I have noticed a trend emerging the last few weeks... Sunday/Monday roll around, and I question whether I'll make a vlog for the newsletter that week. Then inevitably, whether it's late in the day, or I've taken the decision to have a gap week, I still make the video. At times, I have this illusion....

Welcome to 2018! What a year we have ahead: Planning tips + reflections on Oprah's excellence! -

2018 is already off to a memorable start for many of us. A New Year isn't automatically going to make life better, but it does allow for an opportunity to reflect on how you can improve your overall life, habits, and wellness. All that, and let's be honest, who doesn't love a pause. Over the last w...

Here are a few photos we took yesterday at our shoot with the former Canadian Ambassador to the UN, Robert Fowler. Stay tuned for the interview in a few weeks! Had a lot of fun working with these guys.

The Young Diplomats of Canada had the distinct honour of interviewing Canada's former Ambassador to the United Nations, Mr. Robert Fowler, in the first of a new video series that YDC will be launching on YouTube. YDC Co-Founder Patrick Beatty sat down with Ambassador Fowler in Ottawa this week. Please 'Like' the YDC page to stay tuned for the release of the interview!

Need a pick-me-up to get yourself active today? Look no further!

It's been a busy year so far, and I haven't shared many of the projects we've been working on at KoMedia, so today I'd like to share a few.

First, here's the story of Troy Brownlee, a client at Built By Rowan Personal Training. Troy was tasked with capturing a story about strength and overcoming obstacles for his film school application and he reached out for guidance and support in the process. I've never seen someone work so hard towards their physical and mental strength, enjoy and be inspired!

Last night, I found two excerpts from the film I was creating from my time in Palestine in 2011. I never finished that film, and I never shared these excerpts. I was too scared. This post has been waiting for a long time to be written. Last night, I finally found the courage to do it.

"This vulnerability is the part of me each of you remembers. In that conversation where it felt like there was no one else in the room but you and me. That conversation where we sat on the couch in my living room, or yours, in a crowded or empty room crying because of that sacred part of ourselves we serendipitously decided to expose and share with each other in that moment. It is the part of me that wholeheartedly belongs to each of you. It is the part of me that I want to cultivate sharing more and more."

Why Didn't I... If I were to reflect on where I have been investing my 10,000 hours this past year, I would have to say it has been in succumbing to my fear and insecurity. Repeatedly. Tonight, as ...
