I had no idea ChatGPT could create mockups. Once I got started, I was hooked. Having my visions turned into “reality” was incredibly helpful for choosing the right details such as wood tones and cabinet details.
Here's a breakdown of the prompts I used and tips on how to get the best results from ChatGPT.
1️⃣ Upload a picture that shows your entire space and layout. Uploading more than one photo can help ChatGPT improve your overall results.
2️⃣ Be specific. I gave it the exact paint colour I'll be using as well as room dimensions and detailed information about the changes I plan on making (curved doorways, picture moulding, etc).
3️⃣ Be patient. ChatGPT will make mistakes. However, seeing different mockups helped me eliminate designs I didn’t like such as ceiling details and accent colours.
4️⃣ While you're waiting for your mock-up (it can be slow), start designing another space. It can work simultaneously with other projects you're designing. I think I was working on 4-5 designs at one point. Like I said, it's addictive.
Here’s a descriptive prompt you can copy when you’re ready to start your own design. Replace key words I used with the ones you want incorporated in your mock-up.
“Using this photo of my living room, create a modern organic design with a stacked stone fireplace, floor-to-ceiling built-ins on both sides, and Simply White walls. Keep the drapery in Sally/Baby Blue from The Hues, triple French pinch pleat style. Style it with Tonic Living pillows, a square wood coffee table, and a brass light fixture. The room should feel high-end, neutral, and warm.”
